Shot by police? He was hit with a tear gas cannister. It was an accident, accidents can happen when you decide to disobey the police. Scott Olsen is the proprietor of Ihatethemarinecorps.com OWS rap sheet, 100 incidents and counting. They need to take a lesson in peacable assembly from the Tea Party. How hard is it really? Squatting? Banging drums? Really? It's like a kid who sits down on the floor at the mall or bangs pots for attention. Pathetic.
Not pathetic, intentionally annoying. That is how you get attention when you are not the side that can buy it. There is a disobedience component to civil disobedience. It's honorable rougery.
They need to take a lesson from a bunch of racists with shotguns and misspelled signs about the government staying out of their Medicare and Obama being a Muslim Communist from Kenya. I agree. Disobeying police is so un-American, makes me sick. People with grievances against a failing, corrupt system should work within the system to address things. Do not disobey the law! Right on! And then you woke the F up...
occupy LA will lose their space at City Hall and reconvene in Van Nuys. columnist Steve Lopez sums up how I feel about the movement perfectly: Now What? http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-1030-lopez-occupy-20111030,0,4348313.column
Oh. Good. God. Isn't it obvious. The corporate controlled media is having to devote enormous time and effort to discredit the OWS movement. Time they would otherwise be using to undermine Obama and help the GOP win back the WH. That is reason enough to support OWS.
I watched that video and one thing raises a big question to me. At the beginning of the confrontation a tear gas canister or maybe a smoke grenade is seen flying into the police coming from the direction of the protestors. I can't tell if this was one that was shot by the police first and then tossed back or if the protestors tossed it first. If so the protestors tossed it first then the actions precipitating the shooting of Scott Olsen might not have been unprovoked. The police may have been responding to what they saw as a provocation and Scott Olsen just happened to be caught in the crossfire. Taking that into account though whoever shot the tear gas canister that hit him probably should've taken care about where he was aiming. Also the cop throwing the flash grenade at the crowd coming to help Scott Olsen should've held off when its clear they were there to help Olsen and not try to rush the police.
The rally wasn't peaceful and the police were provoked (bottles and rocks thrown at them) says one of the protesters <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eHlHiNEZ1wA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
LA Times Steve Lopez spent a night at the Occupy LA camp to give protestors a voice. the last thing on his and his corporate bosses agenda is to help the GOP win the White House. his article speaks to many who want to know-what's next? it's a lose lose for any writer or columnist mainstream media fails to cover OWS in the beginning- it's a media blackout mainstream media has to devote time to cover the OWS movement- it's a burden for the corporate controlled lamestream media
<iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4DoHDelbEAQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> MLK and Ghandi would be so proud. What a bunch of god damn children.
Well first of all the videos show that the police were completely the provokers, shoving protesters (peaceful at the time) around and pushing them for no reason other than protesting peacefully and being an hindrance because of it. In retaliation they threw plastic bottles, trash and I guess a few threw rocks in displeasure, mind you knowing that the police was in armor and full riot gear. To turn around and shoot people out of tree's and throw flash grenades with intentions of hurting them but not killing them is un-called for, the police was not in danger and they could have handled it much better. Don't get me wrong, some protestors are completely out of hand but there is a cause and effect, also history shows that there are usually false undercover plants to cause anarchy
What an outrage! Police in helmets with clubs and other weapons against civilians with cardboard signs and megaphones. Cops riding motorcyles through crowds of people that refuse to move. Beat the hell out of that guy and throw him in prison! That'll show em! MLK and Ghandi would be first in line to get thrown in jail against this bunch of corrupt bastards.
Watch it again, there's already smoke rising into frame right under the camera shooting the video. It was either somebody throwing back a previously shot grenade or it bounced back after hitting the crowd divider.
You know how low the right-wing will go when they attack a vet who has served their country on the front lines and was awarded 7 medals! 7! I'm sorry, it is just disgusting the way these right wingers are going after our troops. First it was because a guy was gay, and now because another one was a protester who was injured by police. It makes me sick to my stomach. The Tea Party isn't about America, it's about these idiots who have been brainwashed to think that the rich are gods and should be able to do whatever they want - and anyone who opposes the rich are evil. It almost sounds hilarious at how ridiculous these people are becoming. I have a sense that most of America are waking up to how loonie the right has become.
It is harder to organize without a profit motive. Nobody is paying for the right of final approval for the mission statement.
