King:[rquoter]Re Buff's Fitzpatrick $9.9 per year for 6 yrs: the right money for a good QB and excellent franchise leader. Love this deal for both sides.[/rquoter] Mort:[rquoter]#Bills & QB Ryan Fitzpatrick finalizing new contract today -$59 million over 6 years; $24m guaranteed; $33 million in 1st 3 yrs [/rquoter]
They shouldnt have done 6 yrs... It shows they have tremendous confidence in him though.... He's a rare breed of athlete... Harvard to the NFL How can u not root for him?
He's as class an act as you'll find in the NFL. Good move locking him up, only 24 guaranteed, so if it doesn't pan out, no harm done. Buffalo playing at home against Washington? Lock up that win if you're a betting man.
Fitz has been good and the Bills really didn't have much of a choice but it seems like it's a bit much. Then again, he has slowly improved so maybe the trend will continue.
I look back at the QBs they've tried to bring in. Losman in 2004, Edwards in 2007... since then, nothing... and even then, Edwards was only a 3rd round pick... for a franchise with THAT bad of a QB situation to only put one 1st round pick towards it in 8 years is kind of unthinkable. You'd think they'd have at least 2-3 by now. This reminds me of the guy who marries the first girl he has sex with... they taste a tiny bit of success, and they put a ring on it. I agree though, they didn't have much of a choice either way. They put themselves in a bad situation by not investing a lot of time, money, or effort into QBs over the years. Now they gotta ride it out with Fitzy, for better or worse.
