Yup. That's why I'm not as optimistic that much will be sorted out tomo. I'm going with the Tuesday/Wednesday next week, hopefully.

Looking like an agreement these next 3 days.

The only question is, when does the season starter? Mid-November? Late November?

Last system hurdle appears to be use of exceptions for taxpayers. "Tax not issue" source in talks says. "Exceptions are where the fight is."

I would not be surprised at all if the owners get rid of this guy next off season.

I was wrong about Stern, even though I think he's a douche, it wasn't coincidence that the one day he's not in the meetings is the day everything rattles apart.

RT @HowardBeckNYT: One hint NBA planning for 82-game season: League asking arenas to hold open dates in late April, say arena officials

One idea in circulation, tied to last @HowardBeckNYT tweet, calls for teams playing up to 17 or 18 games a month to get in 82 by April's end

He is a douche. Douches are much maligned. Without douches, body cavities, in particular the vagina, would go unrinsed-- and dare I say, that's what happened in his absence.

If it starts no later than December 1st, 82 games might be a reasonable scenario if the regular season is extended to the end of April. They can easily shorten the 1st round of the playoffs by eliminating more than one day off between games.

I expect good news sometime late Friday.

Let's not jinx it. They have been teasing up for a while now.

Yeah, but they never left a meeting smiling and joking around with each other.

Did anyone seriously believe that the players could hold out an entire year? The only question was whether the season would be cut short, and it appears that even that won't happen.

Unlike most sports, his salary is paid by the union and the owners. Personally, i think thats the best formula.

Apparently, the owners couldn't either. Hence they are looking to squeeze all 82 games in.

Most likely b/c KG wasn't involved.

I don't care about "jinxing" anything, so here is my NBA wish list for today:

1 A tentative agreement, preferably at a reasonable hour so we can debate it here without staying up to 3:00am.

    2. A start date to the regular season with 70-75 games to be played. 82 is fine if the season is extended to the end of April. Don't need an actual schedule, just want to know when competitive games will begin. The schedule can wait until next week. I'm reasonable.

    3. A (likely shortened) pre-season schedule so I know when to expect to see NBA players appearing in NBA jerseys.

    4. Free agency dates. The frenzy should be awesome! Hope the Rockets do something radical and exciting.
