Cardinals would love that - walk Theriot to get to Pujols and Berkman, with only a single needed to tie? The first run doesn't matter, so there's no reason to walk Theriot. If you get him out, you can walk Pujols though. Even better, if a runner scores on a groundout, you can walk both Pujols and Berkman.
Yeah, but if Theriot was up there to hit instead (with Pujols on deck), I think TLR doesn't bunt. You end up taking the bat out of a pretty good hitter (Theriot) and then your best hitter (they walk Pujols) when you were in a situation of 0 outs prior. The bottom line is that its not an automatic bunt situation every single time...
Can you ask for any more than Berkman batting left-handed with the World Series on the line? Awesome!
