His first children's film. I do't know what to think. Will we get a montage with the Rolling Stones playing in the background. I bloody finale? <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nWXr_NMI7NA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'm definitely not opposed to children's movies. As a matter of fact, I usually love them. That one, like you, I don't know what to make of it. Doesn't appeal to me as of right now. As fantastical as the storyline seems, it seems kind of cookie cutter.
It's a very strange looking children's movie, like some of you have mentioned it, it just seems kind of blah and unoriginal.
Like Spike Jonze's Where The Wild Things Are, I think this is not a "childrens" movie but more a film about childhood. They screened it at the NYFF 11 and the word was that it seemed like Scorsese's most personal film and a love letter to classic cinema. If you know anything about Scorsese than you know he was a very weird kid that saw a ton of movies as a child because he was severely asthmatic. The thing is that heart and soul is not in Scorsese tool box. But i'm curious enough to see it.
