I guess we're good then. Astros are staying in the NL. Whew, that had me worried for a bit.

Don't care about the Rangers in the least. Please stop using it as a selling point.

lol can't draw 3MM, even after a WS appearance.

what a joke of a franchise. I sure wish our ever-so-wise ownership(s) hadn't screwed Nolie TWICE. It should be the Astros that guy is the new owner of, doing everything right. Not the freaking Rangers. :(

The Rangers are up there with the White Sox, Twins, and Royals as teams I'm sick of seeing in "Interleague Play". Actually, I'm sick of "Interleague Play" altogether.

What? You mean you don't want to see an interleague series going on ALL the time?

No. I like the NFL and NBA and the way they do things. I like MLB (I like them the most, at least currently), and I like how MLB is different. Two separate leagues that (until Selig began taking a 20-year dump on it) never see each other except the ASG and the Series.

Now, were going to have this hodge-podge of everybody-playing-everybody, just not so many times, and the only difference between that and the NBA will be the NBA has faster athletes with more tats. And if they keep it up, "making the playoffs" will become just as meaningless as it is in the NBA. If an 80-win team ever makes the playoffs in MLB, they will have succeeded at royally screwing up everything that made them unique.

I'm just guessing but if they had built a dome or retractable roof they'd be alot higher. No way the Houstoians flock to and outdoor park in July either...

Its hell out there in the heat

rf83, that's a good point. we have to consider that to be fair.

too bad Nolie won't be able to fix that blunder. how very Rangers to build a stadium with no roof in hot, humid Texas.

    Little known tidbit.

The Rangers are the only team allowed to play night games on Sundays at home when not on national tv.

That is true but still not pleaseant at 7pm. They still do have afternoon games too. I made the trip up there in 06(Gary Matthews catch) and I was just drinking to stay alive.

I just dont think theres that big of a difference b/w the two fanbases ...

well, we're worlds apart on this point. don't you remember how we used to make jokes about the rare species known as Ranger Fan? Once I even saw a guy mimicking (and quite poorly) the crocodile hunter's voice (RIP)... "Yea, there's a noice wan roight theah. 'Ee's a beeyooty in-deed. This 'eer's a rare Ranger Fan..."

    Here's a sentence I don't think I've ever heard out loud...

    "I'm a lifelong Rangers fan."

I'm not saying they don't exist. I've just never met one.

Since the Astros started playing in Enron/MMP, they have outdrawn the Rangers in 10 of 12 seasons.

i don't know if you've ever lived in DFW or in their media market. i lived in Waco from 92-96...tons of dallas people. dallas media coverage. no one..and i'm serious...NO ONE talked ranger baseball. not at all. guys i knew from dallas didn't talk baseball, period.

ranger baseball has been a complete after-thought. from what i saw, i'd say they are nowhere as attached to the DFW community as the 'stros are to Houston.

Don't worry, next year, you'll meet plenty of them. Just like all of the MFFLs that came out of the woodwork in the mid-nineties.
