I liked it. BTW, don't take this the wrong way, but that Hermione is gonna be a heartbreaker when she grows up.
Saw it on Saturday. I didn't see the first movie, but read the book in class. I didn't read the second book before watching this movie. I got bored quickly. I couldn't wait for the movie to end. When Hermione wouldn't give Ron a hug, everyone was like "DAAAAAAAMN" in the theater.
I haven't had a chance to take my son to see the 2nd movie yet. I'm leaning towards just buying the dvd when it comes out. I did see the SNL skit "Welcome Back Potter"...funny stuff! Then I passed out on Nyquil.
Great movie. Everything from the sets to the actors...everything was fantastic. It may be a little scary for the really little kids...but other than that, it is good old family fun.
My 31 year old friend has a crush on Hermoine. He also said "Harry should be able to bang any witch he wants." LOL
I saw it on Friday and thought it was pretty good. Much better than the first movie in just about EVERY respect. Acting (Branaugh stole the show), action, pacing, the Quidditch scene, CGI, humor, the sets, EVERYTHING. You name it, the second movie improved upon it. I was especially impressed by the Quidditch scene, as I thought it was pretty thrilling (and the CGI wasn't too bad, to boot). Chris Columbus did a fine (although unspectacular) job this time. On a related topic, who do you think should be cast for the next movie? Here's my wishlist: Albus Dumbledore (R.I.P. Richard Harris ) = Richard Attenborough/Ian McKellen Sirius Black = Richard E. Grant Professor Remus Lupin = I haven't decided yet, but I'm leaning towards Christopher Eccleston or Ewan McGregor. Wormtail (Peter Pettigrew) = Tim Roth Bonus fantasy casting: Mad Dog Moony = Billy Connolly/Anthony Hopkins/Sean Connery - leaning towards Connery.
Mad Dog Moony? Don't you mean Mad-Eye Moody? I agree that a grizzled Connery would be perfect for that role. Unfortunately, Moody doesn't make an appearance until the fourth book.
I saw it and I too liked it more than the first one (which I loved). But who's going to play Harry in the next one? That kid's going to have facial hair and a baritone by the time of the next movie.
You are correct on both but I think the reason it was a bonus choice was because it was for the 4th movie.
Whoops. I meant "Mad-Eye Moody." Nice catch. Wasn't thinking there. Castor had it right. It was a bonus casting call because it was for the fourth movie, not the third. I did some digging, and it appears Richard Attenborough will not assume the role of Albus Dumbledore due to scheduling conflicts. Christopher Lee has downplayed rumors that he will receive the role (although he is mulling it over in private). Ian McKellan has also been named as a possible successor. Ewan McGregor has been mentioned as a top choice for the role of Remus Lupin. In other news, Jason Isaacs (Lucious Malfoy) will NOT be in the third movie (but will appear in the fourth). Alan Rickman is not happy about the paltry amount of screen time he received in the first 2 movies and may decide to quit.
I have not seen the 2nd movie yet. Probably will this weekend. I did notice in the first movie, however, that for one of the main characters Rickman had barely any screen time. This should pick up immensely though with the Snape role increasing as the books go on. CK
I saw Potter this weekend. I haven't read any of the books, but saw (and liked) the first one. However, there were a few parts of this movie that I didn't care for. One, that moaning Myrtle girl.....just didn't like her. Maybe she's supposed to be that way, but I just wished she'd shut up every time she talked. Two, I have arachnaphobia. Three, the climax was very loud - though this might have just been due to the theater's speakers (AMC 30, usually good). There was just too much screeching and it made me grit my teeth. Otherwise, everything else was pretty dang good.
Took my son to it on Saturday and I thought it was pretty good but I definitely agree with the ending being terribly loud. I couldnt wait until it was over so I could stop my ears from bleeding.
Okay, whoops. Guess I'm showing my age. College students look like 13 year olds these days to me, so I guess this actress could easily be 12 or 13. ... At least my inability to tell age keeps me well out of trouble. I like older women.
Sorry, but what's the "right way" to take that? What is she, seven years old? No way, I think she's around 12 or 13. ---------- There's something funny about the preceding exchange.
Well, I'm glad they're getting someone else to play Dumbledore. I didn't like Attenborough in that role at all. Rickman's Snape was pretty weak, too, so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over him being replaced either.
