'97 was also Dierker's first year as manager. Not that I wish us failure to spite Kubes, but I'm just afraid of us slipping into the playoffs, giving Kubiak an extention, and never again replicating the "success" because . . . well . . . it's Kubiak.
Not that group, though. They were bridesmaids three years in a row prior to a pretty pedestrain '97 team. Didn't they win, like, 84 games?
A big reason a lot of us predicted playoffs is because we assumed there'd be no competition. Not that we wouldn't necessarily be good or have a winning record, but that we thought this division should be a cakewalk. But the Titans are better than a lot of us expected so we actually have some competition now. Sunday's game is going to be huge.
Showdown in Possum Holler next week for early bragging rights, and a nice head start on the crown. About as close to a must-win for the Texans as you can get in the first half of the season.
That was a joke, dude. We all know Kubiak is behind schedule. I'm just saying, I didn't expect this team to come out and set the world on fire. I expected 10-6, and a playoff berth, and we're still on track for that.
This is my issue too. Esp since I know this will turn into Kubiak getting another 6 yr contract. This is not a turning point where the Texans become Every year contenders . .. but more of a blip on the mediocrity road We will make 10-6 this year... maybe again next year or the year after but this will be out high point with Kubiak. I hope he proves me wrong but . . . i am just not optimistic. Rocket River
this team will go nowhere with kareem as a starter. Allen is just serviceable but exponetially better.
Darryl Kile was incredible that year. I went to that game with my father when we clinched against the Cubs. Ausmus went deep. ER did a live show that night and they had the 'stros/Cubs game on in the background in the doctors' lounge right when Ausmus hit the HR. I remember going to school the next day ( I was in law school at UH) and it was absolutely beautiful outside. I was so ridiculously pumped that the 'stros were back in the playoffs for the first time since I was in junior high.
That one felt damn good. Especially since it was against the t***. Nothing like smacking t*** around.
Jaguars W Browns W @Bucs L Bye @Jags W Falcons W @Bengals W Panthers W @Colts W Titans W 12-4? This schedule is easy. Only games I'm worried about are the NFC ones - Bucs, Falcons and Panthers. We could lose all 3 and go 9-7.
I would really love to host the Bills in the first round of the playoffs and smash them into oblivion.
oh god...can you imagine the week leading up to that game? what do you think the over/under is on the replay of the '93 playoff game...2.5?
