No not at all... 41-7 at the end of the day. The Raiders is where he showed his true colors. good NOT great.
Maybe, maybe no. I guess we'll see. I'm personally quite satisfied with him as our QB. Especially when I look around the league and see disasters like Tebow, Grossman, Glabbert, etc. starting.
YEP!!! Playing . . . with no real threat of a rush That is Ideal. He basically sat in the pocket all afternoon With that type of protection . . . Dre/Arian and Walter could have been out and he'd still have been stellar [maybe more drops] When the pocket is collapsing. . he getting roughed up . . . . . . crumble. Rocket River
I think someone once mentioned comparison to Aikman for Schaub. I think that's probably the best analogy. Someone who's a great game manager but will never "carry" a team. As long as the Texans run the ball effectively, Schaub will look like a SB QB. When the Texans can't run, he looks like an average QB. I will forever maintain that the Texans should look to upgrade talent around Schaub than to upgrade Schaub himself. The former is much easier and much more plausible. The latter require some serious luck in the draft, i.e. Tom Brady 2.0 in a low round.
Thus why it is a TEAM game. You remember Brees on the sidelines when Wade was being agressive on defense? He looked like he was going to cry. Then, for some reason, wade was no longer sending the blitz and Brees had all day to find Kjax's man. Kurt Warner looked like Satan had claimed his soul when the line could not block for him.(because someone mentioned him) Rodgers concusses himself out of games. Big ben looked little when the texans were bringing the pain. Manning, as I mentioned early, is the only one that can pass protect by himself with his uberfast release.
You are correct. Some QBs . . . .when the pocket collapses They extend the play . .. the make a play. They don't fall down when someone breathes on them. Schaub is good enough, I reckon. But will probably need more for him in the Playoffs. Rocket River
Matt Schaub is statistically the 11th highest rated QB in NFL history in terms of career QB Rating. Of course Tony Romo is 4th.
point being that QB mobility is a luxury, not a prerequisite for a good QB. brees and rodgers are the 2 QBs that come to mind when you think good pocket presence and mobility. manning and brady, on the other hand, are not mobile whatsoever, but still excellent QBs and i'm pretty sure everyone here would love to have them (when healthy). of course, this is clutchfans we're talking about, home of unrealistic expectations and the eternally unhappy.
Those pesky broke necks. Speaking of guys not looking good towards the play-offs, what's with Phillip Rivers?? If not for an amazing display of colorblindness by Josh Freeman, would be tops in the league in INTs.
Some won't be happy until you get Manning's head on top of Brady's heart with Vick's legs and Rivers' arm.
The difference between Schaub and QBs like Manning and Brady who are also immobile is in their ability to read defenses and audible correctly. DD
Yes I wish we had Brady too. I do not believe the Patriots are willing to give him to us in exchange for Matt Schaub though. Any other suggestions?
Done. I think they might actually be okay with a one for one for Kareem Jackson. That guy has superstar material written all over him. Move over Revis Island, Kareemed is coming for your crown.
This is a great point, Kareem is really coming into his own as a shut down corner, he is probably enough to get Brady all by himself. DD
I think Schaub is good enough. I honestly have far far more of a problem with Kubiak than Schaub. Heck, to a point I think sometimes Kubiak holds Schaub back As for Manning. I personally think he is a bit overrated. I think he has had some issues with choking. I think he has overthought some things If I need 1 drive with 2 minutes in the PLAYOFFS . . .Brady > Manning Rocket River
