If we're still worried of what other teams in the division are doing next year, then we havent truly arrived... Titans and Jags wont be a division contender for the next 2/3 years... Colts are clearly in decline mode... We should be a Super Bowl contender , or we should blow up the team and clean house, from top to bottom... We are honestly built,on paper, to win now.... But for some reason, we still are treading along waiting for the final piece... Whatever that is!!!!
Inconsistency has been the hallmark of this regime from day 1. I don't think it's unreasonable for fans to ask the team to show that, if it's truly different this time, then the only way they'll be able to demonstrate it will be through repeated examples of showing up from week to week. This win has extra meaning because we give our chief division rival an L in the process, but honestly an L in any of the next three games would be almost as damaging as this win was helpful. They got through the meat of our schedule, now it's time to perform to expectation and prove to us fans that they really have turned the corner.
Beating Atlanta will prove it... The games before that are basiclly no-win situations , as far as league wide respect... If they win both, they're supposed to... If they lose 1 or both, then we are still the same ol Texans
Given that this team has a 10 year history of no playoff appearances..... Given that the Rockets are locked out (maybe for the whole year?) and even when they play are a borderline playoff team... Given that the Astros are historically bad.... I am ECSTATIC they are playing well. Even when they lose. I was never off the bandwagon. Its the only one we got in Houston.....
not so fast... They had the Titans on their own 5 yard line and the penalties killed the Texans. In fact, that same drive was the one Manning got hurt on. Should of got them off the field!
If we beat everyone we're supposed to beat for the rest of the season and then lose to the teams that are moderately decent, even if they are worse than us...I will still be happy. That would equate to an 11-5 year with losses to Atlanta and Tampa Bay. To me beating the true scrub teams is a sign of consistency. This team has never won more than 9 games and this year it by all rights should win way more than that. But we've all seen this story before; Kubiak has done nothing to prove to us he's got the confidence to go out there, completely surprise us, and do something this franchise has never done before. With him it's always baby steps. He's that guy in the swimming pool or in the beach who will wade inch by inch into the cold water because he's too afraid to just jump right in. It's gotta be 8-8, then 8.25-7.75, then 9-7, and then this year it'll be 10-6. We're pretty much guaranteed to still lose to a crappy team during the rest of the year; frankly I wouldn't be surprised if it's Jacksonville. I don't need to see this team beat a "winning team on the road". Just give me freaking wins when they're supposed to win, and I'll be happy.
If they win their 6th game before losing their 7th (thereby avoiding the dreaded 5-7 record), I will be moderately happy. I will be ecstatic if they are in a position to rest starters in week 16 vs Colts...laying over to them and allowing the Colts to win. Anything to keep the Colts from the #1 pick.
Was never off the bandwagon, but would've been had we lost this game. I still maintain we can do great things this year even though we lost to the raiders and ravens.
It's very difficult to know how good anyone is this year. Can you believe the Titans beat the Ravens after what you've seen from both of those teams this season against the Texans?? The Bucs are the same way...one week they're getting absolutely demolished by the Niners...the next week they're beating the Saints. I have no idea what they are.
Exactly. I'm not hyping myself until they mathematically make the playoffs. We haven't done anything really special besides beating teams we should beat. Lst few years I've called playoffs for us, this year, I'm in wait and see mode.
me too, Angkor. me, too. didn't keep me from enjoying yesterday, though. That was tons of fun indeed.
The Texans will go as far as AJ, Foster and Schaub will take them....if you lose any of those 3 for the season, you can flush it. DD
Looking at the remaining schedule reminds me of the prophetic words said by Thing from the Fantastic Four, "It's clobbering time!"
