For World of Warcraft players, if you're willing to commit to a one year subscription to WOW you will get Diablo 3 for free. Only restriction is that you have a valid account as of 10/18/11... ie before the announcement.
because the expansion is weak... pandas? every expansion so far has been villain driven... illidan, lich king, and deathwing... but this expansion... pandas... fail, Wow is their most profitable cow, they need to keep that alive reports show that Wow is already on the decline with the Cataclysm expansion, so it serves blizzard well for the subs to renew for another year the folks who built the original wow have all moved on to work on Titan(their supposed FPS-MMO), and their absence is evident in Wow's development in the past 2 years... I have not played Wow since mid Lich King expansion, it became more of a chore than enjoyment Diablo 3 will be awesome though may even get the collectors edition for the wings
You're missing the point. You'd have to continuously click on the bad guys for a hit (at least with the warrior/barbarian). You can't just click once and the character will continuously hit like in Baldur's Gate or Dragon Age.
I'm sure blizzard is expecting WoW sub to drop significantly when D3 is released. Blizzard has already lost 600k subs in Q1 and 300k in Q2, so the trend is already there. The required "wow annual pass" is 12mo x $15 = $180. The currently available equivalent option of two 6-month subs comes out to be $13 a month, which is $156 annually. Yeah, no thanks.
Ah, I didn't even notice that. I guess I should have done the math. Either way, I'll still be subbing and also pick up Diablo 3 too so I guess it's still a good deal for me. Not so much for people who might have already quit.
It is a no brainer if you are planning on continuing your sub and getting D3. basically you are getting D3 for free, by agreeing to continue WoW. Also if you wanted the CE, you can still get it. When you tie a CE license to your account that has the 12 month commitment on it, they will credit you with 4 months of WoW for free. So basically you end up paying about the normal difference between the regular game and the CE version. You get a ~$60 credit applied to your WoW bill.
Not to try to hijack this and turn it into a Warcraft thread, but the hot rumor today is that the reason the new expansion is not having a big bad, is because they want to focus on the conflict between Horde and Alliance. Speculation is it is leading up to Warcraft 4 and then the expac after that will pick up where WC4 ends. Apparently some developer let WC4 slip out during Blizzcon at one of the panels. In D3 news speculation is out that the release date could be as early as mid January.
