Fair enough I suppose, but if there's anything that rankles me more than white-collar criminals getting off, it's "blue-collar" crime getting punished excessively. While you're right that the two have their differences, a look into one facet of the criminal justice system is not really complete without having a look at the whole thing.
yeah, but a lot of that is attributable to access to lawyers and such as rocketsjudoko pointed out. If anything is unfair, it is the cost of defending oneself and the effectiveness of vast sums of money in helping in that vein. If this homeless person had powerful lawyers he might have gotten off with community service.
