As I pointed out the other responses by basso were more race baiting than even the "magical negro" reference.

His fake ebonics was far worse in my opinion. It's like talking about an educated Mexican and typing "Thees ees no bueno, amigo. Me like Senor Cain".

If you think racism is OK maybe you need to chill out.

I do see his point. We can't feed the trolls. We all know better than to stoop to basso-levels, yet, unless the mods give us some regulation (pun intended), or at the very least explanation for the lack-thereof, it's difficult to let his behavior go unchecked, most of all in a thread about the END of our generation's Vietnam.

My only solace is that these threads will be really telling to look at in ten years, when history has cemented the legacies involved. Right now though, it just pokes at a very sensitive, vulnerable wound.

4,476. And all the right can do is blindly compliment the worm that started it, and tear at the seams of the black man's policy. Some patriots.

So for those who thought the 'magical negro' comment was racist; What was the discriminatory claim being made against African-Americans? That they have less magic than whitey?

The gentleman is wrong. The gentleman is providing cover for his colleagues rather than doing the right thing.

I didn't make a claim so I can't be wrong. I asked a question (If I said "do you like tacos?" would you respond "You're wrong"?). What was being implied about African Americans by the 'magical negro' comment?

We could start with the fact that out of all the qualities and characteristics to refer to, he's called a negro, which hasn't been the preferred nomenclature for decades.

Furthermore we can look at basso's track record of race baiting. He had one intent and that was to offend people while trying to maintain plausible deniability.

Add to that the minstrel history and oppression associated with racism and it could factor in as well.

Again, pair that with his offensive fake ebonics posting.

I'm just curious why he's allowed to continue posting like that.

You are right it is trolling, and for the most part I ignore his trolling. I just wonder why the racial stuff gets a free pass. As I said the magic negro stuff wasn't as offensive as basso's "yessah massah" style ebonics when talking about black people.

So nothing was implied about African Americans?

Actually plenty was implied. You can do your own research into the minstrel shows and stereotypes associated with it. I've pointed it out and if you don't get it, then you know where to look to find the information to get it.

If you aren't concerned enough to do that, then there is no point in talking about it further.

What grade are you in? How is it that I have to explain how mimicking the vernacular of African Americans, recalling as far back as to our tagged and dated history of racial conflict and oppression, intended solely to discredit the President initiating a policy, is an implicit attack on the race of the man?

What more could be implied? It's explicit.

Actually 'magical negro' goes back to 2007 where it was used more as a compliment than an insult. This was explained earlier. And Basso, like Rush Limbaugh and Paul Shanklin, is mocking the author who used it, not Obama. As if you care though, you'll take any opportunity to call anyone a racist.

Well obviously none you can seem to figure out what was defamatory to African Americans about the comment so I'll end by mimicking you knuckles:

'I don't understand why the moderators allow this blatant trolling of FBs; calling anyone who disagrees with him a racist. He should of been booted long ago. blah blah blah'

Magical Negro has never been a compliment it has always been a demeaning portrait of a black person, showing there marginalization.

And like some have said is barley a step up from being a minstrel show.

How many times are you going to edit your post to add more cover for yourself and basso? Yeah, I'm really sure basso and Rush Limbaugh were complimenting Obama, and refuting the indecent nature of the label.

Sigh. It's Saturday. Someone else to the heavy lifting with this fool. You are all too predictable tallanvor. It's not even fun anymore.

The one thing we have done as a board is generally avoid posting in the noxious one's threads. He posts blatant demagoguery that just begs for reasoned rebuttal so it hard not to reply. But over time we have learned it's just a waste of time. The only statement that makes a statement is no statement.

    Just say no to Asso.

This thread is as off track as placing a bet on the horse in downtown London.

The mods have addressed this before, specifically in regards to basso.

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5521134&postcount=1

So to sum up: if you're waiting for basso to be a better human being, or for the mods to ban him, you're waiting in vain. The best thing we can all do is completely ignore his childish, hate-filled rantings and hope he someday finds another BBS in which to post his drivel. In the meantime, we can help ourselves by not talking about the boards on the boards (which I know the mods hate), and focusing on what this thread should really be about.
