well 1) he was drafted in 2006. 2) For the 2005 draft, i think Aaron Rodgers would disagree. 3) 2006 draft yielded D'brickashaw, Ngata, MJD ...you could even toss in Daniels, Ryans and Brandon Marshall

Did you hear the story about he flat-out disrespected John Elway when Elway wanted to have dinner with him?? Elway came onto the Broncos as team president, and he took Cutler out to dinner within his first few days on the job. Cutler wouldn't look Elway in the eye the entire night, and sat there checking his phone throughout the entire evening. And he's doing that to one of the greatest quarterbacks to EVER PLAY. Dude is a straight-up punk.....but yes, Mike Martz is a moron. The plays he calls are some of the dumbest moves I've ever seen....especially when you have a back as good as Matt Forte!

Well to his defense , Cutler said something about he doesnt idolize anyone, so it was no big deal to him.. Elway was just another boss to him... not the HOF QB, Elway, but the businessman, "who has a job to do",Elway... I think Cutler turned out ok after that big, media impacted fiasco...

It was his rookie year when he was 23, not all of us make the best decisions at that age.

Elway to think Cutler has matured and wishes he was still in Denver.....

“It was a tough situation he was in, in Denver,” Elway said. “I would say, to be honest, he’s the type of player you don’t give up on as easily as we gave up on. But you look at what he’s done. He’s done a good job there. He’s matured.”

I'd take Cutler over Schaub any day. Give Cutler the Texan's O-line, offensive playbook, and receivers... he'd be a top 10 QB in this league.

Id go as far as saying, we'd be a high seeded playoff team as recently as 2 years ago...especially this season

Cutler isn't a headcase. he's just annoying. I find Cutler and Rivers to be the most annoying qbs and apparently they do too. :p

    Anyways,
so if the offensive line isn't blocking, a quaterback, no matter how athletic, will have trouble finding open receivers? interesting.

I think a lot of people (not just on this board) let their perceptions of Cutler's "attitude" get in the way of evaluating his abilities as a quarterback.

Oh, and tell Mike Martz I said "eff him"

the reasoning I heard for that was that he's a socially akward guy. That's why he couldn't look 7 in the eye. There was also a reason for the phone thing but I think it was a social thing too. Looking at him you would think he's more of a schauby nerd than a Riversy trick azz busta.

Putting martz on blast is a long time coming. Their reluctance to reinforce the Oline not to mention trading away his favorite non-rb target in Olsen and adding in scrub Roy Williams is the kind of folly we saw with the Texans defense and the secondary problems that have been with them for 10 years now.

Cutler is not terrible, but he is nothing special. He does not protect the ball well enough, especially in the red zone. He is a mediocre starting qb in the NFL.

He has had enough games under his belt to see what he is... mediocre.

Its interesting the kind of guys people support and try to sugarcoat their flaws:) .

This article explains how the Bears media relations in general might be the worst in sports. It can help make an already bad personality like Cutler look REALLY bad cuz the bears only allow one hour a WEEK for player interviews. So a resentful media will just make their own conclusions on someone without the guy giving himself a chance.

Cutler's still aloof. And his success in Denver was even overrated in a lot of ways. And Josh McDaniel is an even bigger doofus
