Some are, Galaxy Tab has a very very very nice version of Touchwiz. I absolutely hate HTC Sense, especially on a tablet. I've messed around with a "JetStream" before, and it's mehhh. I'd rather have an ASUS transformer or something.
Um....Honeycomb is not much better. LOL. I'm sorry but Google keeps releasing these unfinished OS versions......and instead actually fixing them.....they move on to the next one. THE PROBLEM WITH ANDROID IS FRAGMENTATION! You have devices being released with 4 different versions of their operating system!! (Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and now ICS)........How about getting ONE of them right before moving on....LOL.
I watched the presentation last night. Think I'm ready to jump off the BlackBerry platform (to be fair, I did it to help me develop for the platform, else I would have jumped off long ago). Contract is up soon, and the Galaxy Nexus does look really nice. Having a lot of fun messing with Android on my TouchPad, but thinking a phone version would be much better.
You just can't handle the truth can you? Android is just ripping off iOS, WebOS and Windows 7 with their new release. Their OS is a mess right now and totally unattractive. Seriously this OS will not function properly at all with an older phone relying too much on hardware instead of concentrating on software. You have a Windows 7 Mango running just as good or better than Android on a single core 1Ghz vs their dual core. Everything the Google put out are totally half ass job.
I think you're overreacting a bit much. The thickness of the phone is a far bigger factor in determining how well it fits into your pants. Case in point: I used to have an HTC Evo, and now I have a Galaxy S II. Despite the GSII having a bigger screen (4.52"), it fits MUCH more comfortably in my pocket than the Evo.
Boring and rock solid. Most people want phones to "just work". That's why apple dominates. Not everyone wants to root. Business people want Reliability. Soccer Moms want ease of use. Teens want status symbol. Iphone fits the bill. Android could be GREAT, if Google would focus. You can tell they are not a hardware or software company. They are an internet company...always looking for the next big thing without finishing the last thing.
In your opinion, what is wrong with Android? What is unfinished and needs to be fixed? Fragmentation has always been an issue and I don't really see it getting in the way of it's growth. You can blame carriers and manufacturers for delayed updates or so if that's what bothers you so much about fragmentation.
Anybody remember the failed face tracking camera on HP computers? I predict a potential failure with ICS facial unlock feature on black people. I am betting GOOG didn't bother to test the software with black people. Google could end up with some people unable to unlock their phones or cases where any dark skinned person can unlock the phone.
Can anyone explain to me what disadvantages I would have with this phone compared to the iPhone 4S in terms of synchronizing with my Macbook Air and my iPad? I know it's all built to synchronize automatically if you are using Apple products, but can I set up an Android phone so that it basically does the same? Thanks.
Actually Android is outselling iOS. So not all people want boring. I'm still deciding between Nexus, 4s, and Nokia W7. The question is do I want buggy, boring, or to be an early adopter as my downsides.
Dude, everybody rips off something at some point. Android had the pull down notification bar and voice commands way before the new iOS. Why does it always have to turn into a b**** fest? Each OS is not perfect and has its perks and downsides. It all comes down to personal preference. I been on Android since the first G1 after coming from windows mobile and Symbian. And I love android. I'm so use it to that I don't see myself leaving Android phone OS anytime soon. That's what it all comes down to. I know blackberry heads, apple heads and android heads and even a few windows heads. Guess what? They all each like their phones just fine. You know what's the best phone OS? The one that fits you the best.
