This is not the NBA. No matter how good Luck can be, it means nothing unless the coach, gameplan and rest of the team are of Championship caliber. On top of that, I would like to think this organization would treat the best player in its history and arguable the only Texans player who would ever get HOF consideration for foreseeable future like an "asset" in a trade for a rookie quarterback no matter how great his prospects are. I know we all want the Texans to win and dominate, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do that. This would be the wrong way. Furthermore, since when do you have to use a top 5 pick draft to get winning quarterback. You can Super Bowl winning QB with later picks. (Don't give me the "Kubiak/Smith" are horrible draft people line or what not, because we all know that when the Texans look to draft a new franchise QB they will be gone.)
No way a team would trade Luck to us for Andre Johnson. I'm a huge fan of AJ and everyone knows that he is a top player in the NFL, but Luck has the ability to turn a franchise around. Nobody is going to trade a potential franchise QB for a WR no matter how good that WR is.
Texans fans think AJ is better than megatron, so asking a hypothetical around here is really just a waste of time.
A hot start to the season by Calvin does not make him better. AJ has been top 2 WR for years...calvin has been top 3 for 6 weeks.
That's how the fans work now. It's all about what's fresh in your mind in terms of fantasy stats. Anyway....I would suck Luck if it were up to me.
You could make a case CJ was the best WR in football *last* year and that was with Shaun Hill throwing to him. He is the single most-unstoppable force in football right now and so far ahead of any other WR, it's almost silly to hold a discussion. Andre Johnson is obviously very good - but, come on... CJ has 38 TDs since 2008; AJ has 52 since 2003. Through six games, CJ has already tied AJ's single season career best for TDs and is on pace for 24. He's insane.
i see your shaun hill and raise you David Carr. Not to mention, kubiaks aversion to just throwing the ball up for grabs in the red zone, like CJ gets. This still drives me crazy. Look, CJ has been crazy productive this year and is a physical freak with a ton of talent and he's finally be able to put it all together this year. But again...AJ has been a top 3 WR for 4, 5..6 years? CJ has been one for not even 1/2 a season.
Why is that necessarily on Kubiak and not AJ? They didn't do it with Capers, either, IIRC. Dude, he's posted 1,100+-yard seasons two of the past 3 years with 12 TDs each in those two seasons. Let's not pretend he *suddenly* put it all together this year. He's simply taken his greatness up a notch. There's no one in the NFL on his level right now. He is very nearly unstoppable.
well it's not like Capers was making great calls either. WHy isn't it on AJ? Maybe because he doesn't call the plays. 1100 two of the last 2...wow. AJ put up 1500 two of his last 3, and probably would have been 3 1500 yard seasons in a row had they not sat him.
not sure what you're trying to say here....that kubiak and capers both know that AJ isn't athletic enough to go up and get jump balls or fades into the end zone?
Can't do it; won't do it. It could also be on the QB, too - not an easy ball to throw. Point is - it's not necessarily Kubiak's fault.
I see your David Carr and raise you Dan Orlovsky. CJ still put up monster numbers with that guy as his QB. CJ has been in the top three for longer than half a season but you would only know if you watched Lions games but I know most people didnt. I see a lot of Texas fans saying they do not get why AJ does not get the ball more in the redzone, I wonder that myself as well it seems pretty crazy. But have you guys ever thought maybe Kubiak knows something we do not.
yeah it's called being doubled and triple covered plus the sidelines and back of endzone. Andre can only do so much.
They love trying to get the assorted TE's & RBs their red zone scores. Joel Dreessen can get as many looks as Andre.
