Does Spain have the best soccer player because they won the world cup? No

Did the San Fransisco Gaints have the best player last year that made them win a team sport? No

Sometimes best player isn't the same as best team, as amazing as that sounds.

You're right. If Heat (Spolestra) wanted to win the championship with team game, they should force game through best player on the Heat:Wade. So, he would have been prepared in the clutch and wouldn't just wait for turns.

One point people miss is that basketball, by it's very nature, is an individual dominated sport, more so than soccer, baseball, and football.

In basketball, there are only 5 players on the court, and they play both offense and defense.

Get a get two way player with a unique skillset (i.e Dwight Howard) or a two way player who can do a variety of things (Lebron) and you have a very significant advantage.

    What are you even saying?

    Did you watch the Finals.

Like Wade fumbling the ball on the game tying play?

Wade got the ball in the clutch and ****ed up.

I'm honestly not sure if you're just trying to troll me/annoy me but at least use facts.

Lebron is the best player in the NBA.

He also chokes in tight situations and comes up small in big games, particularly the Finals.

These two statements are not mutually exclusive. I believe both of them to be true. He might be the modern equivalent of Wilt Chamberlain in this regard.

Which is why that best player went and assembled a team of super--friends and ring-chasers... Surely with his dream team he would win! Then he could have giant welcoming parties and tell everyone about how many championships they were DESTINED to win, along with TV specials, (instead of just dancing ON the court, like he did as a Cavalier).

    But poetic justice prevails.

His point wasn't that Lebron was the best, he was responding to someone saying Wade was......

I'm not saying Lebron had a great Finals.

He was the reason his team made the Finals and he closed out Chicago and Boston game after game.

Hell Dirk was 1-12 in the first half of game 6 and he doesn't contribute in anything apart from offense and he's the best. He finished the game 9-27.

I think it's fair to say that Lebron is the reason they're in the finals, but also the reason they didn't win it.

    In other words, Lebron choked.

Well whoever says Lebron isn't the best player in the game because of his finals performance better not say Derrick Rose is the best PG in the NBA.

With that said it's not shocking that people are frowning on LeBron. To answer the question I guess it depends on how you rank players.

Bron closed out Chicago yes but I'm sick of hearing about the Boston thing. That whole fiasco was ridiculous how they reacted after beating them. That isn't the same Boston team that gave Bron trouble in his Cleveland days or beat Wade the previous year. Anyone could see that. I had no doubt in my mind that Boston would lose to Miami in the playoffs.

The only reason Boston didn't struggle with New York in the 1st round is because Billups went down and then Amare ended up getting banged up.

Lebron is still considered the best player in basketball by the majority of fans/analysts.

It's not unanimous b/c he choked. If/when he wins, it will be unanimous. Until then, there will be grumblings of why Lebron isn't the best, and that's understandable.

It was like Jordan beating the Pistons.

And it was the same Boston team. The Boston team played WORSE in 2010 coming into the playoffs.

Once again, calling someone the best player is not just statistics, being the best player in the NBA means you close tight situations, hit clutch shots, and rise to the occaison for the better part.

I think you could say he is the best fantasy basketball player in the NBA or he is the most statistically productive, stat stuffer player in the nba. But to say best, if you say best, the guy must be a closer, clutch player, and relentless leader by action to be teh best
