Well said. There is a lot at stake tonight. With an unbiased third party involved, you would think there would be some concessions made on both sides, better clarity on what is and isn't reasonable. My guess would be they will come out of this with progress. We'll see. But I absolutely agree if they don't make real progress tonight, it's going to be a long few months.
can someone tell me, if they cancel the season, will contracts that were set to expire in summer 2012 now expire in summer 2013?
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Dinner just arrived for the league and union officials, and talks push into a 12th hour in New York, 5 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply It's 9PM EST. I don't know how billionaires generally spend their evenings but I'm willing to bet this is a little late for them. I don't know if it's good or bad news. They must be making a lot of progress for the meeting to get so long. On the other hand when people are tired (hungry?) they are bound to be a little grumpy and easily irritated. Hope for the best.
Chris_Broussard Chris Broussard 11 hrs & counting. I'm told owners & players have talked about concepts & minor issues. Not tons of ground made on 2 biggies (BRI & lux tax)
NYPost_Berman Marc Berman by sam_amick Remember Cohen had 17 sessions with NFL with no deal. He has 1 day and tons of unresolved issues. Lower expectations.
Stern did say that he wanted to have discussions going in a positive direction come wednesday. Maybe this is what they are trying to do. Agree on a few things just to get the ball moving.
As talks hit 12 hours, mediator, NBA and NBPA are finally breaking for the night. Owners and players will have separate news conferences. that means no deal?
