87 percent of New Yorkers agree it is alright to protest Wall Street.
58 percent of New Yorkers favor the protests.

    http://swampland.time.com/full-results-of-oct-9-10-2011-time-poll/

54 percent view the Wall Street protests favorably, versus only 23 percent who think the opposite. Interestingly, only 23 percent say they don’t have an opinion.

Aggregate the few up, you'll see where the wind is blowing.

THE GAP BETWEEN RICH AND POOR IN THE UNITED STATES HAS GROWN TOO LARGE

    AGREE 79%

    DISAGREE 17%

EXECUTIVES OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FINANCIAL MELTDOWN IN 2008 SHOULD BE PROSECUTED

    AGREE 71%

    DISAGREE 23%

it's amusing to watch people in denial.

In denial? Americans may have a visceral disdain for the wealthy, but we are basically a center-right country that doesn't really go in for class warfare.

Asked what the wealthiest 1% of Americans — the ones excoriated by Occupy Wall Street —should pay in taxes as a percentage of their income, more than a quarter of people — 28% — have no opinion. Another 21% say the richest should pay 10% or less, and only 18% say they should pay more than 30%

From previously cited USA Today article.

Oh, well, you know, I'm sure that's true---especially when "class warfare" is fixing the justice system, and alleviating income inequality (and perish the thought, universal health care!)

Using my specialization in statistics and mathematics, can I mention that 28+21+18=67?

Where are the hidden 33%, and why has the author implicitly screwed this up such that no one is quite sure what the effective tax rate currently is---which lends itself to a much easier question of whether you favor increasing the effective tax rate (around 23%) or decreasing it?

I see about 12 sources of bias here, seriously.

OWS seems to have a good number of dirty Commie hippies. I am not one of them. Don't even like them. But enjoy watching them annoy the Wall Stree assholes and libertarian freaks.

Yeah, and tell me how it's fair the executives responsible for laundering drug money, and civil fraud at Wachovia, GS, BOA etc. get jail sentences of 0 minutes in comparison?

You posting that seems to confirm my point that the justice system is broken. Perish the thought, are you sympathizing with a OWS position?

If you can't see the difference between the two scenarios, then you are completely incapable of getting within a country mile of a rational thought.

Trickle down isn't class warfare but talking about trickle down's effects is class warfare. That's awesome.

"visceral disdain for the wealthy" WTF? In truth, historically, we worship the wealthy and want to become them, either openly and aggressively or secretly. That's the long-time narrative of our nation.

At present, there are some people sniffing the poo as it hits the fan, more people than usual, but it's still not generally anything close to "disdain." More like, "hey, could we tweak things just a tad before 99% of us are living in mud huts?"

It's not like the current trajectory makes us a developing nation... it makes us a devolving nation. A developing nation is headed in the right direction at least.

Most baseball fans despise the Yankees, but they also wish that their team had a similar level of success.
