No. I guess they just don't care. Maybe the SEC thinks they can take the st Louis Kansas city markets.
Big12 is a sinking ship; SEC has muscle and stability. I think it's a no-brainer for Mizzou in the long-term - get out while you can, because there's no telling if the Big12 will remain viable in 5 or 10 years.
I can relate to that. Over the last 8 years, I controlled my own destiny by jumping off two sinking ships before they went underwater. It just seemed Mizzou fit the Big Ten perfectly and the SEC very poorly. Since their preferred choice is not an option, they will act decisively. Can't blame them. Still doesn't feel right. This is a grand slam for the SEC.
Yeah - I'm really surprised the Big10 didn't join in and add a couple of schools. They aren't likely to get 2 better schools than Mizzou as far as fitting into the Big10 logistically and culturally while also bringing a new market. I'd be curious as to what their long-term thinking is - if they have teams in mind, hope to stay at 12, etc.
Big East members unanimously vote to raise exit fees: http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...s-unanimously-vote-to-raise-exit-fees/related Nice to hear it was unanimous, up to 10 million from 5.
LOL ... Can't believe someone wrote this and actually thought it wouldn't make them look completely pathetic. Did Ken Starr ghost write this?
Other than WV vs Boise, this conference is really, really awful. Nothing else looks intriguing. These schools would gladly pay $10M if a real conference asked them to join.

Well that's good for UH. WVU is the key to the big east. If they leave, Big East football takes a huge blow and could possibly collapse. Louisville is terrible at football anyway, no huge loss. And geographically they were in the middle of that whole mess so that conference made the least geographical sense for them. Although I dont get why anyone is even talking about Louisville. Kentucky is a pretty useless market and they only control a portion of that market. They haven't been good at football since Petrino left years ago. I dont see how they are worth a damn.
my understanding is that the new exit penalties were contingent upon them actually bringing in a slew of new teams...that bringing in the new teams was a condition precedent to the exit penalties taking effect. EDIT: ralphDrussoAP Ralph D. Russo To sum up, exit fee goes up to 10 mil as soon as at least 1 of specifically identified teams joins. Marinatto did not say which team ....
Right but its pretty clear that basketball doesn't drive revenue like it used to. 30 years ago you could make this argument. Today it just seems silly. Moves are being dictated by market value. UH hasn't done anything in football or basketball in terms of national prominence but they're in a sweet location when it comes to market potential. Same with SMU. Meanwhile Louisville is in freaking Kentucky. And they aren't even the most followed school in the state. I realize there isn't much to choose from but Louisville? Go get a school in Florida or something. Or go all out and get WVU (which is the only good school in terms of football and basketball in the Big East) WVU is practically begging to get out of there.
