What do you define as lobbying? Is a citizen no longer allowed to lobby his Congressman/woman about an issue?

People love to blame lobbyists and special interest groups for the problems of congress, but if you ban "lobbying" (lol) or even special interest groups from forming you are taking a voice away from a lot of important issues.

Hey folks, remember that Supercommittee that's going to solve all our budget problems? Well the lobbyists sure remember...

Gee, who would have thought this kind of thing goes on. I'm sure there is no quid pro quo though.

The only way that has actually worked in democracies to date is to have workers organized in unions who then have the clout to have labor parties that are not controlled by monied interests.

This is the basic explanation of why Norwegians for instance have a much much better standard of living for 90% of the population.

This seems to be inaccurate in more ways than one.

In response to the post for making voting compulsory?

If it's compulsory and you don't vote then it ostensibly would be against the law.

Things will get better, but not until they get worse. Tea Party on one side, Occupy Wall Street on the other, both sides know they are getting screwed, but neither side can agree on who's doing the screwing, but that will change.

Obama has been mostly incompetent, but the next Democrat who wins the White House won't be. I fully expect to see universal health care, living wages, job protection, and a more ethical treatment of the poor in my lifetime.
