You wake up one morning and have a choice of either. You don't know how it happens. Perfect Health: Nothing can make you sick. You can still contract viruses and spread them, they just don't affect your well being. Perfect health means you need less sleep and your brain operates optimally. You could live much longer than most people. You can still get hurt and die as a normal person would. For example, a shotgun blast to your head would kill you. But since you are in perfect health, bad injuries would heal faster and you would be out of recovery much sooner than most people. You aren't a world class athlete, but since you recover much faster than the normal person, your training schedule would be much faster. You can still be out of shape and grossly fat, but you would be fat without the associated health issues. Power of Flight: You can fly as fast as your body can withstand. If you hit something mid-air, it would hurt you. You essentially float and can control your speed. No apparatus or wings needed. Since you are cutting down on wear and tear of movement, your body would, in theory, last longer. However, you would also get fatter without lack of exercise and would need to work out to counterbalance this. Still, since you aren't moving your fat ass around, your body wouldn't be expending as much effort to keep you alive. You could possibly live much longer with these advantages. You can fly and carry as much as you can carry walking, or as much as your muscles can handle. For example, if you were to lay face down on a beam above the ground, anything you can withstand holding on your back or holding with your hands you can carry while flying. If you work out and increase your strength, your ability to carry more during flight increases as well. You can get creative with your hauling of weight, for example, towing a kite that carries a lot of the weight with you.
I voted for flight but it's conditional. If everyone alive got to make the choice I would probably choose perfect health. If only me, or ideally me and small group of friends, and maybe even a group of rivals got to choose flight, I would choose that.
I'd choose flight, and then work to keep myself in shape. That wouldn't give me perfect health, but my health would be good enough.
I'm not sure how genes would affect aging in the Perfect Health scenario. Something to think about. Actually, I don't know how genes would affect anything in either scenario.
If it's something you can heal from, sure. By that I mean, if there is an example of any one person in history healing from that specific injury, you would. If not, your body would adjust optimally, at least.
It could potentially get you as much. You would have optimum confidence because you can do anything. Confidence = woman cat-nip.
For what it's worth, I would assume that perfect health includes quick recovery from STDs. You could have sex with all sorts of women that you wouldn't now.
Perfect health, and only those that have lost it can truly understand how much it royally sucks to be chronically ill. PS, flying would just get you shot by the TSA or some drunk duck hunter.
I figure you would adapt some kind of aerodynamic body armor pretty quickly to avoid stuff like this. Absolutely. Any bacteria would be eradicated almost instantly. You would still spread viruses such as HIV, Herpes, Hepatitis, HPV, but they wouldn't do anything to you. So there's a moral ramification of that. If you know you're a festering disease swamp, do you still go around spreading viruses? Better to not go down that path. Plenty of clean, attractive women.
Captain America is supposedly the result of Perfect Health . . . Peak Human. Better Hearing, Better sight, Better reflexes, Better coordination. Flight is great - cure my fear of heights. No longer need a car of sorts. Question - Flight as in levitation or do you have wings? Levitation is more preferable that being said I think I would go with Perfect Health. I hate being sick. Rocket River
Levitation. No apparatus needed. You can float around your house if you want. Edited original post accordingly.
So the flying people are going to live longer than the perfect health people? And the people flying are going to get fat? Seems like flying would be exercise, no? And now the flyers get body armor? that makes no sense. If it weren't skewed, I would take perfect health. People can already fly.
It makes perfect sense based on the parameters I put up. You can get body armor and a wetsuit on eBay. I suppose your body would develop muscles from the wind resistance, and that could be construed as a sort of exercise. But probably not enough to keep you slim. If all you do is float around (and why not?), you aren't getting the kind of exercise that your body has evolved to expect. You're going to potentially live longer because you aren't putting the wear and tear of walking on your body.
I think the limitation of flight . . if you cannot LIFT/drag 500 pounds than you cannot fly with 500 Pounds type of thing. Rocket River
Wait... if I pick flight to my eardrums still pop from the atmospheric pressure if I go up a couple hundred feet? If so, I pick health.
Perfect health. It would make for a nice change, and I can buy a ticket from an airline if I want to fly.
