I DON'T purchase generic: guns (only name brands) shoes (new balance) soda (coke) ketchup (heinz) mustard (frenches) cheese (kraft) frozen vegtables (green giant or birds eye) razors (bic) lawn mowers (honda) gas trimmers (echo) dog food (iams) televisions (samsung) liquor (name brand) beer (bud light) tools (craftsman, snap on, mac) toilet paper (charmin) I DO purchase generic: drugs gasoline cereal bottled water fruit juice
Gilette or Schick? I've got an old fashioned safety razor and just buy blades. I'd love for Mythbusters to do an episode about razors that have more than 1 blade.
LOL - the name brands that you do buy are mostly inferior products (bud light, iams, kraft, heinz, frenches) or completely indistinguishable from generic products (green giant, samsung). Power of huge marketing budgets at work - preferences are molded not by quality, but by targeted plays on preferences.
Electronics. I never buy monitors, televisions, or computer hardware from brands I am not familiar with. Also frozen pizza. Generic pizza brands often suck.
Q-Tips. The off-brands just don't have the proper amount of cotton to stick in my ear Toilet Paper. Tools and Power Tools. You get what you pay for. Non-Heinz ketchup. Generic steak sauce. Big ticket electronics. Tech stuff- tablets, phones, computers, etc. LEGO style building blocks....nothing touches the original. Screw-you, Mega-Blocks. Pencils. A lot of people don't realize that there's a huge difference between cheap store packs and good pencils. I use Mirado Black Warriors.
Yellow mustard is yellow mustard is yellow mustard (spicy brown or dijon ftw); same with orange colored cheese & light beer. Generic.
While this entire list is pretty funny, "kraft" and "frozen vegtables" [sic] were the two that actually made me laugh out loud.
Those little "baby" aspirin that some folks are told to take. I always get Bayer. And I don't scrimp on ketchup. Del Monte or Heinz. I also get Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce. The rest are posers!
We had this discussion back in one of my marketing classes and one thing that was pointed out by the professor was that many times the generic and name brand are made in the same factory or even the same line except for when the label is placed.
Fiji Water. The purest substance on earth. I demand the best from myself and thus my water. That is why I only choose to drink Fiji Water. I sometimes get physically ill thinking about the children who have to drink generic bottled water from places like Kroger or Randall's.
