I'm confused. I'm seeing 9 road games against each team in division. There are 3 pacific coast teams in the AL West...that's 27 games on the West Coast...right? We played the Reds 10 times in Cincy this season...we played the Pirates 9 times in Pitt this season. I would assume we'd be about 9 games against each division opponent at their venue...right?
Yes, we agree on the 27. Where we both erred is on the comparison to our normal NL slate against the West. You said we had 11 Pacific games this year... I said 18... the correct answer is 14. And to me, it's really 18, considering the Arizona games start at 8:40 local time. That's why I was saying the difference is about nine games, in terms of late starts/games that last until midnight.

Do we know for sure if there will be a balanced schedule next as well, because that affects all your numbers.
I think there has to be... mainly because of all the extra interleague series they will be having throughout the year.
Change can also be bad, and that's what this is. Let me guess, you are either a teenager, or a college kid. I've been watching the Astros play in the National League since the mid 60's, and I am disgusted with this forced move. I'm sure all the annoying Yankee and Red Sox fans who now live in Houston will be jumping for joy. This is just going to suck.
Will there really be an increase in total interleague games? Right now, each team plays about 15 interleague games, right? So that's 225 games per year. If you had only 1 series going on at a time next year, you'd really only need about 160 games or so. So you could continue the current interleague setup fairly easily without adding any more games.

This isn't really happening, is it, Max? I admit to not following this "Moving to the American League" stuff like I usually would. I've heard and read talk about it, but figured it would end up being just that... talk. Seriously, I can't imagine the Astros in the American League. I've watched Houston play the National League since the Astrodome was a hole in the ground, and they were the Colt 45's battling the mosquitoes as much as the other team. Have they gone crazy? It's bad enough that the NBA has a lockout and the Astros have sucked on the field, but this? How utterly and completely stupid.
It seems possible, if not probable, at this point. It all comes down to who blinks first...Crane or Selig.
After the Cards b**** slapped his Brewers, Selig might want to make the switch west for his Brew Crew.
I'd like to hear any answer this this question that fell through the cracks. Posting as two different people to try to bolster your support, greenhippo?
If this was really in the best interests of the game, make a case and find a volunteer. Florida doesn't draw flies and has only been around since 1990, Arizona has only been around since 94'. We have seniority on the Padres too. No reason to penalize a NL team with a 50 year history. C'mon Bud, Drayton carried water for you for years, never bucking anything and always signing draftees at your "recommended slot". Let him sell his team at a good profit and keep us in the NL.
Seriously, how does that question even make any sort of intelligent point? What two account? MSN responded to several points I made without rebuking any of them, I call him out on it. Then I'm asked about other accounts?! what does that even mean?
