    6 days.

What other team in the NFL 'expects' to win at Baltimore when they're missing their best offensive and defensive players respectively? Does Green Bay expect to win at Baltimore without Rogers and Matthews?

Again, if we lose next week, I'm back on your side. But for now, I'm still expecting great things from this team this year.

Tampa and Atlanta, to me, are their toughest games left.

Tough loss yesterday...had chances, but w/o AJ and Mario, did better than expected...JJ was halfway decent...

I think there's a difference between expecting to win...and saying that even though you think you're on the path to a division championship, you really don't bother even tuning in because losing is a foregone conclusion.

I think GB expects to win everywhere they go.

Great things...no. Good things...maybe. Great teams can win tough games on the road. Until the Texans do that, I have difficulty calling them great. Hell, they're .500 right now. If they manage to beat the teams they are clearly better than, then we'll all celebrate. It would just be nice to be surprised by them every once in a while. Holy crap.

Ravens were missing a lot of players on defense also , along with their #2 WR Lee Evans. Ravens were coming off a bye , but they also had key players out of the game .

Who is to say the Texans don't? We're talking about Texan fans, not Texan players. We've been beaten down like Poland circa 1944... (EDIT: was that simile over the top?)

Great things relative to what we've done in the past - which, of course, is horsecrap.

And there's a HUGE difference between expecting a team to do (relatively) great things and calling them a great team. I sure didn't call them a great team.

You're right, we almost never win games we're not supposed to. It would be nice to do that every once in a while. Can't disagree with that.

    excuses, excuses, excuses.

the more the Texans change, the more they're still the Texans.

No excuses here, they're not a great football team. They can be good if they want to. Otherwise, they're just an average team that is going to win a division in a down year. Get their teeth kicked in by a wildcard winner, and try again next year.

Well said, DonnyM. They are what they are; it's harder to enjoy the ride for me because I *want* them to be really, really good. But they're not.

I think it's a process, though. Green Bay finished 3-5 on the road last year. They lost to the Lions. Granted, without Rodgers - but the Texans were playing without Johnson these past two weeks. With Rodgers, they only scored 13 agains the Redskins, 9 against the Jets, 10 against the Bears... But they look light-years better this year, just overflowing with confidence. That can happen when it all comes together, finally.

That's why I'm perfectly content with a possible underwhelming 10-6 division title because I think teams that struggle to get over the hump get markedly better once they do get over the hump (assuming they have the talent to sustain, etc.)

1939 may be a more appropriate date.

Also, anyone care to guess what their record was after 6 games last year?

    You guessed it

The cynicism level is so high among fans, sports writers, etc. regarding the Texans it will take a string of impressive wins for the team to have any credibility at all. They are best at finding ways to lose and not very good at finding ways to win. Here are my issues:

    1. Maybe V. Leech wanted too much, but the Texans should have given it to him. His absence is OBVIOUS in Foster's current performance.

    2. Kareem Jackson was a STUPID pick and refusing to admit it is even more STUPID.

    3. Kubiak's extension was arrogant and STUPID. The addition of Wade Phillips was a good one and is paying dividends AND illustrates how important it is to have the right coaches in the right position. Kubiak is in the wrong position.

    4. The team has some talent deficits but not enough for them to lose consistently.

    5. Williams loss doesn't seem to be as detrimental as the loss of Andre.

    6. The team has a "losing culture" that must be radically changed by a new head coach, the right head coach not named Wade Philips. Again, look at the 49's. How much more talented are they than they were last year?

    7. Draft or trade for a first rate QB prospect, you are going to need one soon unless you think Lienart is the future.

It's the coach. Kubiak has got to go. Players change, assistants change, but the games still look the same. I remember McNair saying that fans don't understand the implications of the lockout, and changing coaches is not a good idea. Was it a good idea for the Niners? The latest team to turn it around before Kubiak has. This is getting ridiculous.

I get why people bring them up, but does anybody really think we're in any way comparable to last years Packers team? IMO, pointing to the exception rather than the rule is not a great reason for optimism. Possible? Yes. Likely, not necessarily.

Every other team that made the playoffs last year started 5-1 or 4-2, including Seattle.

Another reason why we need to beat the Titans (3-2) on Sunday.

I'm really disappointed in Vickers. Casey adds an extra element to our offense with this pass catching ability but he's nowhere near the blocker that Vonta was.
