Who would you go with? Kyle Boller Terrelle Pryor David Garrard Kyle Orton Carson Palmer Yuck. I think at this point Garrard is the logical choice because he can be outright signed. Orton is making a lot of money and the Bengals probably would make the Raiders give up a high draft choice for Palmer.
Don't sell the farm for Palmer. Go with Garrard, sign Palmer after the year is done. If he declares he's retired, does that let him out of his contract...?
I really don't see much of a drop off in terms of skill than with Palmer or Garrard. I can understand why they are making a push for Carson, he reportedly wants to play again... and with Andy Dalton leading the Bengals to 4-2... he's become more expendable. Hue Jackson was also WR coach of the Bengals back in Palmer's heydey 2004-2006, so there is some familiarity there with the system. I say at this point just sign Garrard and try and get an elite QB next season.
I went to the Raiders-Browns game yesterday. Was probably the roughest gameday crowd I've ever seen - tatted up thugs, hoodlums, and degenerates all around. Multiple fights in my section. My buddy commented that criminal records likely outnumbered college degrees 5 to 1.
There are fights in every NFL stadium I'm sure. There are a lot of Raiders fans that embrace the entire "thug" mentality, and in that sense it is sad that Raiders home games have such an embarrassing reputation as not being family friendly. But again, idiots get drunk at every NFL stadium and start wildin'. To stereotype all Raiders fans as "thugs and degenerate criminals" is a bit of a stretch. I know I'd probably be scared ****less to walk into that place not wearing Silver and Black, but I've been to 2 Raiders home games and both times I didn't see a fight anywhere and generally everyone around was friendly.
Call me crazy... but I like Palmer. He desperately needs a change of scenery. Felt the same way about Hasselbeck.
I've never been a big fan of Orton, and having to give up anything for him (even a future 7th) is a steep price when coupled with his contract. My wish list right now is 1.) Carson Palmer 2.) David Garrard
Dude, they were giving Cleveland fans the treatment. There was one Browns fan in a sea of hoodlums at the entrance we went into - that poor guy feared for his life. Big ass dudes getting in his face, talking sheet, f-this, f-that. Crazy. There was one fight in my section where the dude's head got split open and blood was gushing down his face. And there was another guy behind me who passed out early in the 2nd quarter, and didn't wake up in the 2nd half.
Heh, I remember back in 01 hearing stories of Dolphins fans getting beat up and pissed on in the men's bathroom. You'd have to have some major stones to wear an opposing jersey down around the black hole. Charger/Chief/Broncos colors would be suicide.
Garrard is not as awful as many think. He's got a decent arm, can run some, and usually makes good decisions. Low interceptions throughout his career.
Cross Garrard off of potential Campbell replacement. JayGlazer Jay Glazer Take one name out of search for QB, David Garrard just called me and told me he needs immediate surgery on herniated disc in his back. JayGlazer Jay Glazer Garrard has been in a ton of pain for from training camp injury and MRI showed herniation of L4-L5. Says he wanted to be upfront w OAK Looks like they're gonna have to trade for Orton or Palmer.
Unfortunate. If they can't get Palmer (which they almost certainly won't), it looks like they'll be stuck with Boller/Pryor and some scrub off the scrap heap. Campbell reportedly has a broken clavicle and will be out for 6 weeks at minimum.
Rough couple of weeks for the Raiders with Davis passing and now this. No point in going after Orton, dude is overpaid and inaccurate passer. Just got to hope Pryor is gonna bust out.
Nope. He would be put on the reserve/retired list (which he basically is already), and if he wants to play with another team, the Bengals would have to release him from their list.
