Realistically, I don't think it'd ever happen. We were sitting here practically begging for Big12 to pick us up and they didn't really give us any attention.
They never gave TCU any attention, either, until they did. Personally, I'm not holding my breath. Besides, I'd prefer forging our own path in the Big East away from UT's shenanigans. Still a few dominoes to tip yet, so who knows where anybody will end up.
Recognition-wise, Big East is a HUGE upgrade for UH. However, all the big time schools are leaving the Big East. After the dust settles, it seems the Big East would turn into C-USA-s (You know...like iphone 4 to iphone 4s). It's still an upgrade though. I love where UH is headed. I would love for UH to get an invite to the Big 12 and rival TCU. Both schools were on similar paths, but TCU has been the more consistent and ascendent school. UH is finally starting to take steps towards that same success. But if some of the other staples in the Big East stay (UConn, Georgetown, Notre Dame), the Big East is way more attractive.
A big east consisting of WVU, Boise, SMU, cinci, Louisville, UH, doesn't sound all that bad in my opinion
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7103537 Explains the situation. Also, for anyone with Insider, there's an article posted here: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/feat....go.com/ncf/features/rumors?date=20111015#TOP called "What the Big East means for Houston". Anyone wanna post it?
UH and SMU don't view the Big East as the final destination. The schools must prove themselves like TCU to get a Big 12 invite. UH fans can blame UT for keeping UH out, but what has UH done in the last 5 years? Conference championships? Bowl championships?
The big 12 does not need more than 4 Texas teams. The SW conference is dead and UT, Baylor, TT don't want to go back. No conference can be taken seriously when almost half the teams are from 1 state. I wish UH we'll in the big east and SMU. It's a good fit and with a possible addition of the cotton bowl to the BCS, the big east will not lose their bid.
1 conference title. 2 division titles. Combined record of 47-24. 4 bowl games. Victories over 5 BCS AQ teams. Victories over 3 ranked teams. 13 weeks in the top 25.

Good for the Coogs. I, like many others, wish the Big 12 would take notice but the Big East also makes sense. Boise and Air Force...not so much.
They're coming in as football-only schools, and Boise St. will definitely help Big East keep AQ status
Good point. I hope the raised exit fees may have some factor and that Big12 finds another conference to scavenge. There's an interesting article on ESPN regarding Boise St. right now:
Yes, I did. You didn't say, "I'm afraid if won't be enough if...". You said that, as it stands, it won't be enough to make AQ. Which is total...
ah. this is why all conversations should be had over a beer instead of a computer. what you wrote is what i meant.
