Usage% is the player's possessions (FGA + FTA * 0.44 + Turnovers) per minute as a percentage of his real-life team's possessions per minute. This value indicates how often a player either shot the ball, drew a foul, or turned the ball over. The SimEngine uses this value in relation to the other 4 players on his team to determine how often each player gets the ball. Here is a table of the usage tiers. Tier 1: Usg% >= 32.5 = 8 points Tier 2: Usg% 27.2 To 32.5 = 6 points Tier 3: Usg% 22.1 To 27.2 = 4 points Tier 4: Usg% 17.5 To 22.1 = 2 points Tier 5: Usg% 13.7 To 17.5 = 1 point Tier 6: Usg% < 13.7 = 0.5 points If you have under 10 usage points on the floor, the number of possessions each player gets will be more than in real life. This will result in a possession penalty, meaning worse efficiency and more turnovers. No sir we dont want that. Ideally you want 12 usage points on the floor at any time for your stars to be at peak effectiveness. If you go above 16 you start really taking away shots from the players that need to take them and wasting possessions. Here are Hollingers advanced stats. You can find your players under USG. http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics?&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnba%2fhollinger%2fstatistics You need to also make sure that your highest usage players are efficient players. You don't want turnover machines hogging all your shots. In your case RedNation you are in excellent shape in that regard. Hope this helps
Aside from maybe a little too many turnovers, you are in really good shape. (I have the same problem) You have a very good percentage spread between your starters and bench. Which should limit turnovers overall anyway.
Spoon if I accept vbgs trade... johnson and ibaka for gordon and dalembert.... how will it affect my team
If you had to change anything, I would trade Captain Jack or maybe even start Harden.(maybe) Paul Millsap is a much more efficient second fiddle. Though, Captain Jack is pretty nasty on the D and he can fill it up some nights. That's a tough one.
Well Joe Johnson was injured last year and we are going by performance from 2010-11. Having said that, Eric Gordon put up more points on better efficiency. WAY better from 3. I still think Johnson is the better player at this point, but certainly not last year. You would lose some rebounding with Ibaka but Johnson would pick it up a bit. Ibaka is a lot better than Dalembert....(duh...) It's close I dunno dude.
Another thing to consider, Johnson would take more shots in your offense than Gordon would and would be likely to miss more attempts. Gordon scores efficiently. He and Nash look to be your 3rd and 4th options. Durant 1st, West 2nd. Adding Johnson would move that list to Durant 1st, Johnson and West would share 2nd option then Nash would be 3rd. West is more efficient than Johnson just something to consider. You may also be pushing (or over) the threshold we talked about. I didn't add it up. Which would take shots away from Durant. Something else to consider.
I know that really sucks for you dude... I would be down to agree on using a previous year, as he should be healed from injury at the start of the season.
The sim should take about 3 or 4 days to determine a champ. I say we do 3 ways... Whatif 2k And public polls... since this is the most balanced draft
Hey VBG would your work around Okafor and Nene? He could be that defensive presence, rebounder you need.
No Okafor is a double double machine and a great defender. Nene is a better scorer but a worse rebounder. But he has Bargs at the 4. I think Okafor is a better defender overall, but just wanted to say Nene is pretty good at D too. lol.
Hmm. Im thinking about it but I really like Nene's ridiculous efficiency scoring wise. He's a solid enough defender too. Eric Gordon had a slighter higher usage than Joe Johnson last season. I might think about the Okafor-Nene trade if I can't find anyone else. Even though, I already have a lot of mid-high usage players
