Except for the fact that its not really free. Its the same thing with gmail. In that little user license agreement that you don't read and check the box agreeing to when you sign up it states something along the lines of: We track what you do, what you write any information on your facebook wall/emails. This allows them to target you for specific advertisements. Ever wonder why when you write about something in your email or view a page, you have advertisements regarding that specific thing? There you go Just remember the timeless adage: "There really is nothing that is free in this world"
Every other advertisement is geared towards Las Vegas casinos, I like it. when I get back i'm going to look up about 30 different big boob websites. Spoiler
By free, it's not costing me one penny to use. Are you also saying that listening to FM radio isn't free to you because there are ads? Watching local channels over the air is not free because there are ads? Picking up a free USA Today in a hotel isn't free because there are ads? Clutchfans isn't free because there are ads?
....yes? That is exactly what he is saying and it is very true. You pay for radio by giving your attention to the ads. Your attention is very much a commodity.

Not when I can ignore the ads. By reading this post, I guess I am 'charging' you to do so. The point is, in the context of Facebook, it is free to use as it is not costing anyone any explicit money. Also, with respect to time as a commodity, those people using Facebook, are choosing to do so. It is not necessary to use, there is no one forcing you to do so, there is no tangible money out of your pocket to use it.
