He's not saying all Republicans are racist (my parents are life long Republicans). He's saying that the conservative ideology attracts some of the worst kind of scum. There's something wrong when referring to the president as a "TAR BABY" is arguably acceptable to some.
I agree with that. Or I would say that most right- wingers aren't racist, but most racists are on the right wing. (Since a lot of people identify with tea party or other movements instead of republican party). But it's kinda like saying most people with tattoos aren't criminals, but most criminals have tattoos.
