Maybe the fans can finally win in this -- get rid of 2 teams and the talent level will rise on the others. It would be a HUGE loss for both the owners and players though. I realize this is mainly doomsday talk just like Stern to scare the other side, but it's interesting to think about.

I'd say move SAC to Vegas. The idea of the Vegas Kings is just too tempting.

I want a Vegas pro team, NBA, MLB or NFL. I hate the cop-out "oh we can't have gambling become a factor' ......you don't have to have the team in Vegas in order to bet on it. I just think you'd have almost endless sell outs, even if the team isn't mediocre at best, a nice arena and it would be a big story.

Plus I go there every year and wouldn't mind seeing a game or two. ;)

I think it would benefit the league to contract a few teams, but it would suck for fans that will lose their favorite team. Sucks even more that they won't be able to see them play one last time.

I would recommend New Orleans or Charlotte to KC and Sac to Vegas.

    It's fun to think about.

It would be sad to see any teams be contracted.

    This will not never happen...
posturing by the league to pressure the NBAPA to caving on demands...

Frankly the players are being b****es...

Hell no, Sacramento deserves an NBA franchise. Can't say the same for other cities like Miami.

I've seen this a bit in various threads, though I think more about MLB. I don't see why this improves anything. I mean, that's what, a 7% talent increase per team on average? What does that do? Turning Kyle Lowry into Ty Lawson? Turning Jordan Hill into Sam Dalembert?(might be bad examples but it's hard to come up with examples of 7% increase in talent) I don't really see how that would exactly make me want to watch the Rockets more.

Even if you take this to the extreme, say down to 10 team like the old days, it's not like people remember all the "superstars" on those old Celtics teams. It's still Bill Russell+scorers for casual basketball fans. If anything, star power increases with expansion since stars don't get obscured behind other stars.

You got the contraction idea backwards. It would put those guys out of jobs, because you are cutting players from the league. For example, the NBA all-star game is an example of what would happen if there were only 2 teams in the league.

If the NBA contracted only 2 teams, the Hornets and Timbwolves, then David West, Okafor, Kevin Love, and CP3 would push marginal guys like Jordan Hill and Sean Marks to the D-League or Europe.
