http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/14/world/africa/africa-obama-troops/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 More at the link. I for one am in favor of this move. The things happening in that part of the world are outrageous and I'm glad the United States will take a bigger role it trying to end it.
Just saw this too. I fully support this move, more so than troops in Yemen and Libya. Joseph Kony is such an evil man destroying the lives of millions in multiple countries. His atrocities are despicable. It appears Obama is starting to seem very pro-war with moves like these over years.
No telling the total amount that was there, it wasn't many, but to think we never had any troops there is wrong.
i think the official answer is zero, there never were any, only air support, which has ceased. but other than that you're on the right path

There were some and the cost of our involvement was well over $1B. I would rather not discuss Libya in this thread. This thread is about Joseph Kony and the LRA. Like I said I support our involvement in this than many of the other countries we have been in.
Why? For Afghanistan, I mean. Iraq is understandable. Anyways, I don't mind a small commitment like that. Can't hurt.
I had a friend doing relief work in Africa who left a village a day or so before the LRA came in and wiped it out.
They claim to be Christian but that is just a name. They will slaughter any Christian they find and have crucified some on trees. They have also claimed to be Islamic after support from the government of Sudan. They aren't a part of any real religion and fall more under the category of mysticism.
Iraq is obvious because it is oil related. Afghanistan is a little harder to see but we're still there to secure their resources so the world's multi-national corps can go in and extract the minerals: most notably lithium to power all the worlds future lap tops and cell phones. Taliban/Al-Queda that is reported of in the lame-stream media are nothing more than the equivalent of Mexico's drug cartel fighting for their own turf and sovereignty. That's coming from US soldiers who have been on the ground in Afghanistan. This particular effort appears to be a true humanitarian effort so I support the use of our military in this scenario.
African-American president killing Africans. Is this black on black crime? Does it not count because he is half African?
This was from a thread you started. This is from another thread by you. If fact that there are at least 12 threads by you where you are calling on US intervention in Africa. Why don't you pick a side and quit flip flopping. Do you want US intervention in Africa or not?
