A single person can move anywhere in the US with $5,000. Assuming you already have your car and it is payed off. Take your car, take some clothes..live in your car till you find someone on craigslist using your lil smartphone to give you shelter while you find any job for the mean time.

It's all about sacrifice...You don't need a big fancy condo, high speed internet, sunday ticket, nba league pass, one of iGod's iCreations and all that garbage. I'm talking about a non air conditioned studio in a roach infested apartment complex as long as it is in paradise.

When I lived in Singapore in the mid-90s, they cost/minute they charged you was relatively expensive. So we had internet but I rarely used it just because of the cost.

Other than that, when still using dial up modems, I think I went 2 months without the internet when a modem burned out.

Since cable/broadband, maybe about 2 weeks.

Since I've gotten a smart phone w/internet, I don't think there has been a day I haven't been on the internet.

I don't text many people. I also don't do anything on the internet but talk to you guys and I don't even do that too much. I could drop both and not even care. I've done it before.

I live on a remote island in the Eastern Caribbean for most of the year. After a while the beach life does get a little old. That and hurricane watch every week during the season. I don't miss most of American life, other than fast internet, grocery stores being open 24 hours and indie rock shows. But the way of life here is very slow, relaxed and non hectic. Not sure if I would want to raise a future family in a place like this. But I'm single, non attached and thus it's been fun so far.

Since the late 90s when Internet became a must-have, I'd say 3 weeks. As for a cell phone, 2 weeks.

Were you busy making Gary Hart jokes when this actually happened?

My Vegas trip is this Thursday-Tuesday. No internet and unless I forget to wear a watch when I leave, my phone will be only to check the time. The world outside of the many poker rooms I'll be frequenting will be dead to me.

My first "internet" experience was posting on a BBS with my 300 baud modem.

I managed to hold out til maybe 8 years ago to get my first cell phone cause I didn't like the idea of people expecting to be able to get ahold of me 24/7....still don't
