I was watching the NFL Network last night and the scroll on the bottom mentioned that the Texans have lost 7 of their last 8 road games. That didn't seem right, so I checked it and yes...it's true. Upon further checking, it seems that the Texans haven't beaten a winning team on the road in 2 years (Bengals in 2009). So I kept checking and found out that since 2004 the Texans have beaten a grand total of 2 winning teams on the road. (Bengals in 2009, Jags in 2004) That's not...that's not good, guys. That stinks.
Not to mention that, if those statistics are true, the one road win in the last 8 games was against the Dolphins, who can't win at home.
those statistics were based on road losses to teams that eventually made the playoffs if I'm not mistaken.
Interesting. Certainly doesn't make a home loss to the Raiders any less painful. That one could really come back to bite them.
Also, by my count we're 2-13 in division road games under Kubiak. Both wins were only by a FG. We beat Jacksonville 13-10 in 2006 and the Titans 34-31 in 2009.
If it doesn't improve this year, absolutely. They are based on teams that finished the year with winning records. 9-7 or better. Didn't take playoffs into account at all.
Seems pretty obvious. We've been a mediocre team and mediocre teams don't beat many good teams, especially on the road. I'd venture to guess that our home record against teams that went on to have a winning record isn't all that good either.
In the past, they have pretty much sucked at home too. I guess we will find out Sunday, if things have really changed. This is huge test, if they pass it, they will expand their list of believers. If they don't, yep, same ole Texans.
