Let's correct something here. He has not been "run off a few places." It is POSSIBLE that the Jets have run him off for attitude problems. Possible, though their GM denies it.

The Ravens and Titans, the only other two teams he played for, did not run him off. When he signed with the Ravens after playing for the Titans the Titans were trying to resign him. He went to the Ravens to win. When the Ravens cut him for salary cap purposes after last season they tried to resign him. Guess who else tried to sign him? The Titans!

So 2 of 3 team he's played for wanted him back AGAIN for this season. He ultimately decided to leave the Ravens and bypass the Titans to go play for the Jets, the team that made the AFC title game two straight seasons.

To say he's been run off is such a joke. He is a charged up player. He will talk noise, but 2 of the 3 teams he's played for in 15 years wanted him to be on their team. They didn't run him off, he left for better chances at winning.

I also want to address the "he's not good" issue. Mason is old for a receiver and he's played the last 6 years or so in bad offenses with mediocre QBs and offensive schemes that are designed around ball control. Yet in those offenses he's put up close to 1,000 yards a season and something like 13 yards per catch. The last two seasons he also had 7 touchdowns.

Until this year when he hitched onto a bad Jet's offense he wasn't just a scrub receiver. He was a good receiver. He was a trustworthy number 1 option in a ball control offense. Unless he has fallen over the hill, Mason is still a good, productive wide receiver and would be our second best receiver when Andre is healthy.

a 7th round pick is not going to help a team the vast, vast majority of the time.

And i do think some people's expectations are too high, however, as a possession guy I trust him far more than JJ at this point.

I don't see how you could not be happy about this move. I really don't.

I mean, I get that I'm the one hyping him the most, yet even I have said he's a good who should be a good safety net for Schaub. Nothing more. My expectations are that by the end of this season, Schaub has a new target who he knows he can look for when the plays are busted and count on that guy to come back and make the catch. I don't expect Mason to be a game changer for us, but guys who your QB can trust to be open and make the catch are valuable. We've seen that.

If Mason gives you what he gave the Ravens last year, you once again have the player Kevin Walter looked like in 2008.

He can get open and catch the ball. Kevin can only do one of those things, and Jacoby can do neither. He's arguably the best receiver on the team right now. For a 7th round pick, that's an incredible value pickup.

Agreed completely. I'm absolutely amazed that there is any complaining at all and I'm also stunned that a player who has managed to play for 3 teams in 15 years is now labeled a malcontent because ONE team traded him. LOL

It's good to see he has experience coming back and making a play on under thrown deep routes

Also, I think he can forget about any fade routes down in the red zone. I'm not sure if Gary's Bronco's playbook has that route incorporated into it since it was developed back in the early-to-mid 90's, right? :p

Because it's the Texans. If they won the Superbowl by 50 points, people would complain that they took their foot off the gas in the 4th quarter. :)

    You know thaaaat!

Vince is a bench warmer in Philadelphia, and his fans finally realize he sucks.

So, I welcome any of these new Texans fans.

He's been following them this season. More the merrier unless they are Debbie downers.

Last season is when I jumped on board, I think this year they have a shot at something special.

I personally would welcome VY to the Texans on a one year deal....I hope he gets his crap together, but I doubt it will ever happen.

Maybe VY could be of some use in some kind of redzone wildcat something....but it can't be here.

Cause we all know Schaub could throw for 595 yards and we get beat because Jackson fell down on every play and there would be a hue and cry from a certain burnt orange contingent clamoring for us to replace the "ineffective" Schaub with Baby Vince who "Just wins!"

Ryan Broyles would be a good pickup in the 2nd or 3rd round for Houston this year. Very good possession receiver - good hands, quick, and can make plays in space. Basically the opposite of any of their WR's save for AJ.
