The sad part is it's not in him. When he did his presser after the Raiders game, I don't think he looked up not even once while talking . Matt Hasselback Trent Dilfer Brad Johnson All at the least had confidence, if not talent . Hasselback > Schaub
You know Brad Johnson is the perfect comparison to Schaub...give him a defense and nice offensive weapons and he will win at a high level.
Elite QBs make their defense awesome. You don't see Tom Brady's defense giving up TDs on hail marys. You don't see Tom Brady's CBs slip and fall and give up long TD bombs all the time. Schaub lacks the eliteness that allows his defense to be awesome.
he said he's not satisfied with pretty good. so he's satisfied with sucks terribly. at least with v-span.
1. Liked AB as a scoring PG - still do 2. Thought Von would be a nice off the bench player - but not a starter. 3. Vspan - wanted to see if he could develop since that team was going nowhere. So, none of that is related to this discussion and you are taking it completely out of context. DD
BTW - how does pointing out Brad Johnson having a better arm say anything about Schaub? It is just pointing out a fact. Schaub is a decent QB, I am just happy that 2 years later, most Texan fans can see what I saw right out of the gate.... A flawed, decent QB.....if he had a little mobility or a little more audible ability, he would be a lot better than he is now. The lack of mobility gives the D an easy time, they don't have to worry about anything on passing downs other than getting to the same spot every time..... DD
Relax, DD. I'm just being facetious. People just get annoyed at you for being so smug about "how right you were from the beginning" about Schaub. It wasn't just you. Plenty of people were aware of his obvious flaws. They just thought he's "good enough" after David freaking Carr. Fans just feels entitled that they should have the best players. Guess what? Life sucks and not everyone can have Aaron Rodgers. All of this is a moot point because there's no way we can get an elite QB at this point unless we tank and get a high draft pick since no one is going to trade a truly elite QB so why even argue how much Schaub sucks or how good he is?
Im no Schaub fan... In fact , Ive been called idiot in the past because I said Schaub didnt have the clutch gene... But Im not gonna say , if he had mobility, then blah blah blah.... he's not gonna improve that aspect of his game ... I get what you're sayin and all but mobility isnt his biggest downfall... Its his toughness... As you've stated before , he has pussyitus..
A p***y doesn't play half a football game with his arm hanging out of the socket. He is uncoordinated and slow, so he rarely avoids a rush and generally packs it in and takes a sack rather than trying to make some miracle throw or bust a Mike Vick out there, but a p***y he ain't. I'm shocked Matt doesn't fumble more when hit in the pocket, but I guess he plays it a lot safer than most QBs.
Hilarious! I certainly understand and respect the bottom liners (ie wins) - he has absolutely come up short in that regard. And I get that a lack of wins can render statistics hollow... But Schaub isn't putting up pedestrian numbers, guys - he's putting up *historic* numbers. Taken as a whole, he has been ridiculously productive. Here's a hint: If the debate is about his belonging to a list of QBs that include Manning, Brady, Brees and now Rodgers.... uhm... your QB is pretty f'ing good. I desperately want this team to win 10+ games and make the playoffs - but I'm kind of starting to wish (just a tiny bit) for a season-ender toSchaub so that you Schaub-haters can experience 11 weeks of Matt Leinart. I can't even believe there's a thread called "Schaub Debate." This reminds me of the time - do you remember? - when a lot of these same people thought Ben Tate was just as good as Arian Foster.
I don't recall anyone saying that they were equal, there was a lot of talk about whether the production was close, and whether the organization would pay a premium for the difference, but not that they were equal. As for Schaub, of course there is a debate, he is the QB, and he is the one that touches the ball on ever offensive play, and honestly, he has underperformed in some key situations, on a consistent basis..... So, he gets criticized for it......**** happens. DD
