    Amen.

I loved Michael Dickerson. I wish we could have kept him around to play the SF WITH Steve and Cat! :)

He had some sort of condition. That Francis trade was great for the rockets they pretty much have up nothing for Francis.

The Rockets should have drafted Amare Stoudamire instead of Yao - surrounded Tmac with some better shooters and ball handlers and they would have won a few championships in Tmacs prime.

    ryan bowen
    david wesley
    Jon Berry
    John Lucas
    Scott Padgett
    Kirk Snyder
    Vspan
    Jake Tsakalidis
    Luther Head
    Mike James
    Bobby Jackson

Haven't read the whole thread, but I would have never changed uniforms and would have made sure Dream only ever played for the Rockets.

I can live with personnel mistakes and coaching screw-ups and such, but those two things seemed like a deliberate slap in the face to true Rocket fans.

Should have gotten Kobe Bryant, LeBron James or Dywane Wade.

Surround Yao with dudes who know how to win playoff series.

    Bro,
I meant any of those guys.. also add Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett

Basically the flaw in that other dude's argument is thinking Tracy McGrady and Amare would win a championship together or at least to the finals.

In theory anything is possible, but if you already know who's actually successful, you should put them ahead of someone who's proven not to be successful for any team.

It's pretty easy really. Pick the guys who've done something over the guy who's done nothing

I don't mind the Barkley acquisition. It was an exciting experience at the time. Remember how we started the year like 24-1 or something ridiculous like that? It may have been a bit of a short-sighted or risky move, but if that lineup had stayed healthy, we definitely would have done a lot of damage. We were good enough to have taken away a couple titles from the Bulls if we even had a half way serviceable point guard.

I mean c'mon. Hakeem, Drexler, Barkley, Willis... That was just sick. Injuries have been our single biggest problem ever since the late 90s.

Dude... no... No, no, no. NO.

technically, after the Rockets won the championship is any time after 95

I was responding to a guy who thinks Tracy/Amare should have been Rockets

After 95, maybe we should have gotten Shaq and made Hakeem power forward,

maybe we could have added Michael Jordan

At least we know Shaq and MJ could carry teams and win MVPs.

    see?

Or maybe get a better medical staff. ;) Mostly joking, of course, I don't know how much of a difference that would have made, but it does suck how much injuries screwed us. Who knows if that curse woulda carried over to Lebron or Kobe, heh.

what curse dude? we got to the finals 3 times in the olajuwon era.

post olajuwon era we won only 1 playoff series.

why not pick someone who we ALREADY KNOW made it over someone who hasn't won it?

we already know who won MVPs, Finals MVPs, and championships. It's easy picking. Hell give me Tim Duncan and Robert Horry.

the 'what if' game doesn't make an exception for Tracy McGrady.

you can play the 'what if' game for anybody.

Wow, relax, brogurt. You're injecting your hate where it's not necessary. I understand you want to pick "proven" players over McGrady. My point is just that the Rockets' problems and injuries after the championships were not exclusive to McGrady. We hardly had ANY healthy years after the titles, especially when we had title-contending talent.

And you're right, "what ifs" work for anybody. "What if" Duncan played his entire career in Houston? Would he have won any championships? Would he have suffered some major injury that nagged him for a decade?

There are infinite scenarios after the championships. I'd just prefer if we had the original jerseys back. It's what would you have not done.

Barkley, we were still contenders with him.

I think if we didn't get Pippen and paid him so much money as our "franchise" player and then forced to make a trade, things would have been different.

There was once this rumor of Sam Cassell for Juwan Howard.
That would have been been huge.

reason we didnt win another championship was not cause of the Chuck trade but because the Dream took a HUGE DIVE and became a mortal again.
Hate to say it but the Dream was no longer the dream and looked like he didnt even care. Chuck at least still played his ass off.

Of course Clyde retired and Pippen was a POS with out Jordan. Chuck was the reason we were still competitive those few years.
