Bull. The last two years, if the Texans in either season had even a below-average (not even average, mind you, just not LEAGUE WORST) running game or defense (2009 and 2010, respectively), the Texans would be shooting for their 3rd playoff appearance. "Needs great" my achin' arse.
If, If, If.......maybe the fact that the offense went 3 and out so often and allowed the D to get tired on the field had something to do with it as well? And they had a VERY good running game last year....what is your excuse for that? DD
I said running game (2009) and defense (2010), respectively. Are you seriously blaming the offense for the defensive failures last year? Holy hell... this quote seems appropriate once again.
I am saying that simpletons blame one side of the ball there are always contributing factors for both offense or defense failing...sometimes one looks better than it is, and in reality contributes to the other sides failure. The Texans defense was not great, by any stretch, but if the offense would have held the ball longer they could have protected that weakness.... At the end of the day, it all boils down to coaching, or lack thereof.... Schaub is a good enough QB to win, but only if he has all the weapons, if you are asking him to go out and win a game for you with this team, I don't think he can do it, without AJ. So to me....AJ makes Schaub better, not the other way around. DD
Schaub wasn't perfect..the offense wasn't perfect. But DaDa, that defense was absolutely, positively historically bad. No one was going anywhere with that defense last year. I'm amazed they won 6 games, honestly.
The defense was horrible, no doubt. The offense should have done more ball controlling to mask that... DD
How much ball controlling do you need??.... We're not the Patriots DD... C'mon mane, you reaching now!!!!
Since 2001, I've only seen one or two QBs that could carry a team all by themselves to the 'promise land'. 1. Peyton manning 2. Vince Young at the COLLEGIATE LEVEL brees managed a 8-8 season.(defense was terrible. he couldn't suit up at cb.) How clutch is that? Just saying that for a qb to be clutch, everyone has to do their part. I don't know why it's so hard to understand.
don't pat yourself on your back too hard, Mr. V-span...his flaws have always been his flaws, e.g. lack of mobility, hot/cold streaks and mediocre arm strength.
You're right, it's absolutely not worth it. The fertilizer truck of ignorance is impossible to stop. We're going off the rails on this crazy traaaaaaain.
What do you know? You're just a simpleton! JAG! Our D last season was more than formidable. Rodgers, Brady, Manning, and Brees would have dropped 40 a game and squeaked out 2 points win
Time of Possession Ranks 2007 - 18th 2008 - 4th 2009 - 7th 2010 - 23rd 2011 - 3rd Overall Defensive Ranks 2007 - 23rd 2008 - 27th 2009 - 17th 2010 - 29th 2011 - 9th
Yeah, I know I know, it is convenient to think that rather than understand the point. It is NOT just about being the number 1 rushing team, it is also about when you rush, or how you control the clock/manage the game. And yes, I realize that Schaub is only channeling Kubiak's coaching, so he gets a pass from me on that, but IMO, he should be doing more to help mask the team's weaknesses....... To me, what would elevate Schaub (In my eyes) would be for him to recognize game situations, and audible to better take advantage of those situations..... I know you guys are going to defend him, I am just happy that some people are now seeing what I saw 2 or 3 years ago..... The guy is a decent NFL QB, but he is not elite, and makes far too many clutch mistakes to be considered an elite game manager either. If he could eliminate those boneheaded mistakes, and learn to shuffle left or right and keep his feet, I would be a lot bigger fan of his.... Right now, I think he is meh.....just a little above average. DD
