Wade Phillips, Noooooooooooo Shoot, hire Jeff Van Gundy, he doesn't know anything about football but he's friends with Parcell and maybe they could come as a package- Parcell coaches and Van Gundy does the interviews.
Didn't you hear? The loss to the raiders mathematically eliminated us from the playoffs. Another season down the drain. Time to blow it up.
That's the thing about. The Texans will finish 8-8 or 9-7, but that will still more than likely be enough to make the playoffs and keep everyone in place.
In this incarnation it has. We reached a low point 6 years ago, fired our coach and GM, and this is as far as we've gotten. The Lions reached a low point 3 years ago, fired their coach and GM, and it looks like has already surpassed us. That they still sucked before their latest rebuilding effort is irrelevant. They still pulled the plug and started over which the Texans will eventually have to do with Kubiak/Smith.
Thing is, even as frustrated as I am over this loss, 9-7 should be almost a worst case scenario. I think this team could easily underperform, give away a few more games it should win, never winning a game should lose, and still go 9-7 and win the division. I can just see us playing like the mediocre team we've been, backing into the playoffs, and Gary getting a contract extension because of it.
Did you not watch the meltdown in Dallas during the last couple of years when Wade was there? How soon people forget.
at least there was a buildup to a meltdown.... With Kubiak, its been meltdown before and during the buildup
The Lions being the latest team to fire a coach and/or GM and turn it around, while the Texans still have Kubiak.
can we wait for the lions to do more than win 5 games in a row after two decades of futility before we nationally perform fellatio on them? thanks!
yeah, because losing the best player on your team shouldn't affect your team? anyway, sorry, i like kubiak
Not to mention their schedule, including TB, KC, and Minnesota. Dallas and Chicago both look to be middle of the pack teams as well. There are no easy wins in the NFL, so they deserve a lot of credit, but they still have a lot to prove as far as how serious a contender they can be.
It's too early to think the Texans aren't going to be one of the turnaround teams this year. Just because they lost a heartbreaker Sunday doesn't mean they are suddenly going to be a 7 win football team. That said, if they fail to win 10 games and reach the playoffs this year, it would be a complete embarrassment if Kubiak kept his job.
That's not even the point. The point is that Kubiak is in his sixth season, and is being outdone by a second year coach. Hell, Jim Harbaugh is doing the same thing. What is it that people see in Kubiak? What has he done exactly and why are there so many excuses made for him?
Sorry, but if the Texans fail to make the playoffs, I'll take a couple of years of Wade over Kubiak returning. Neither would be ideal.
Aw shucks. Look, this ox is in the ditch. When the ox falls in the ditch you just don't abandon it. You get in the ditch with the ox. We're gonna get this ox out of this ditch scarface just you watch.
