Ummm. yeah. How so? You pay taxes as you spend. if a poor person spends $15,000 a year, they pay 9%. If a rich person spends (or a corporation spends) $5,000,000, they pay 9%. Sure as hell beats the current system.
Poor people spend close to 100% of their income. 9%. Rich people spend a much lower percentage of their income. A 9% sales tax would be like 0.5-3.0% to a wealthy person (depending on their income). Very recessive.
Well actually it's regressive, but given that it would entail multi-trillion dollar annuall budget shortfalls (on top of the ones we already have) we can safely call it recessive as well.
Yeah, I have no problem with his actual studies and degrees -- far from. It's not like he's Palin or something. It's just that he's probably not spent a lot of time thinking about international affairs at this point. If he's as quick as some believe, he can catch up pretty quickly. We'll see.
LOL! My bad. The flat tax and national sales tax pipe dreams return. Thankfully, they will never see the light of day.
Cain's support tripples pulls within 2 points of Mitt in new Gallop Poll http://content.usatoday.com/communi...port-triples-in-gallup-poll-as-perry-drops-/1
Cain is able: confronts the race hucksters on Hannity. <iframe src="http://videos.mediaite.com/embed/player/?layout=&playlist_cid=&media_type=video&content=RH4TC82NJZXHG0BL&read_more=1&widget_type_cid=svp" width="420" height="421" frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe> not a Hannity fan, but Cain does very well in this interview. start about 2:30 in to get the key graphs, continues make his point to the end.
just something interesting on cain and the civil rights movement debate. cain went to morehouse college, same college dr king went to. morehouse is truly a liberal arts college, that's why he has a degree in mathematics probably. iow, you can't get an engineering degree from moorehouse. i know today or at least when i was in college, kids who wanted to go to moorehouse (mainly black kids, moorehouse is a black college), the ones that wanted to major in engineering were able to go to school across town at georgia tech. i don't know what it was like when cain was in school, but cain was apparently denied entry to university of georgia, i'm sure based on being black. so it maybe his right to say he chose not to participate in the civil rights movement, but his life was for damn sure affected by segregation and he should ackowledge that at least
All these other so called Black Leaders critisizing Cain should just STFU. We have a Black President in Office and a Potential Black GOP candidate. I don't think they should be playing the race card anymore and I'm glad both Obama and Cain dont. It's idiots like Sharpton who is a race baiter that cant shut his stupid f'n mouth. Heard Sharpton on the radio this morning. Keeps talking about the 40's, 50's and 60's. HMm geez don't you think something has changed in the past 50-60 years?
as ususal you are uninformed. the person who played the race card was cain. cain went out of HIS WAY to mention the civil rights era in HIS BOOK. THE BOOK, that HE IS PROMOTING. kind of like when you start threads on illegals and then get mad for people talking about illegal immigrants. so back to the discussion, cain was actually very much affected by segregation. yes, we know it was fifity years ago, glad you know how to count. but he was a person that couldn't go to schools in the south, so his opinion on the topic is very much relevant. thanks
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/10/11/cain-effort-to-intimidate-me-will-not-succeed/ hmm sure seems like everyone else is trying to play the race card... Did you hear what Sharpton said? That's the only thing that guy knows how to do. Play the damn race card. What a pathetic POS.
hi sunsrocketsfan i know what others have said, i'm unemployed so i've been following this since the initial interview. i actually criticized the initial interviewer for attacking cain on the subject. however, cain brought the subject up and his educational experience and living through segregation makes it relevant. i really don't care what sharpton said, i do care what cain thinks. thanks
hi pgabs, Hearing Cain in recent interviews has made me respect the man even more. I agree he can be a bit blunt and direct and it might be to his detriment but at least he is honest like Ron Paul. Cain definitely needs to be a bit more cautious on what he says since it might hurt him if he is to move any further. Just seems like its always the interviewer trying to bring Race into the question
he doesn't say segregation didn't exist, or racism for that matter, rather he says he didn't (doesn't) let it define his life, or his success.
what does that mean? cain directly benefited from the END OF SEGREGATION just like all black professionals.
What's with right winger's obsession with unqualified candidates? Palin, Bachmann, Cain. I actually like Cain, but think he should be running for Congress or Governor somewhere.
It's fun watching you get behind the flavor of week -- Cain's performance on Hannity proves he's ready to be the POTUS.
no word on a certain someone not throwing their hat in the ring but mention glenn rice and watch him fly off the handle
