Ummm. yeah. How so? You pay taxes as you spend. if a poor person spends $15,000 a year, they pay 9%. If a rich person spends (or a corporation spends) $5,000,000, they pay 9%. Sure as hell beats the current system.
Poor people spend close to 100% of their income. 9%. Rich people spend a much lower percentage of their income. A 9% sales tax would be like 0.5-3.0% to a wealthy person (depending on their income). Very recessive.
Well actually it's regressive, but given that it would entail multi-trillion dollar annuall budget shortfalls (on top of the ones we already have) we can safely call it recessive as well.
Yeah, I have no problem with his actual studies and degrees -- far from. It's not like he's Palin or something. It's just that he's probably not spent a lot of time thinking about international affairs at this point. If he's as quick as some believe, he can catch up pretty quickly. We'll see.

just something interesting on cain and the civil rights movement debate. cain went to morehouse college, same college dr king went to. morehouse is truly a liberal arts college, that's why he has a degree in mathematics probably. iow, you can't get an engineering degree from moorehouse. i know today or at least when i was in college, kids who wanted to go to moorehouse (mainly black kids, moorehouse is a black college), the ones that wanted to major in engineering were able to go to school across town at georgia tech. i don't know what it was like when cain was in school, but cain was apparently denied entry to university of georgia, i'm sure based on being black. so it maybe his right to say he chose not to participate in the civil rights movement, but his life was for damn sure affected by segregation and he should ackowledge that at least

hi sunsrocketsfan i know what others have said, i'm unemployed so i've been following this since the initial interview. i actually criticized the initial interviewer for attacking cain on the subject. however, cain brought the subject up and his educational experience and living through segregation makes it relevant. i really don't care what sharpton said, i do care what cain thinks. thanks
hi pgabs, Hearing Cain in recent interviews has made me respect the man even more. I agree he can be a bit blunt and direct and it might be to his detriment but at least he is honest like Ron Paul. Cain definitely needs to be a bit more cautious on what he says since it might hurt him if he is to move any further. Just seems like its always the interviewer trying to bring Race into the question
he doesn't say segregation didn't exist, or racism for that matter, rather he says he didn't (doesn't) let it define his life, or his success.
