Honestly, I hate to pull out the health card but Schaub at QB would be more than enough to win a super bowl if our entire offensive arsenal was healthy for the majority of the time. Schaub needs everyone around him to do their job and for him to be as successful as he needs to be. The O-line lost the line of scrimmage battle in the Raiders game and that hurt Schaub big time, not to mention AJ's absence. The offense is just fine if we have all our pieces healthy and on top of their game. I mean, a top 3 running back, top 3 receiver, top 10 tight end, a usually capable O-line, decent #2 receiver, good #2 running back, decent fullbacks, and decent backup tight end is more than enough to be a super bowl quality offense. Have they performed to that level yet? No, but health is getting in the way so far. Let's just see it play out the rest of the year, if the majority of our offense is healthy towards the 2nd half of the schedule, I bet no one will be complaining about Schaub. Yes he has many limitations, but we have all the pieces to effectively hide them with our offensive personnel. It's just these danged injuries with are haunting the Texans/Rockets!
True DM, there are no upgrades walking through that door, but the team should be looking for one in the draft, or in free agency, don't you think? The Irony is that the Texans might lose out to the Titans who got a 14 year guy, sometimes, there are better options out there. I personally would like to see a QB that can scramble a little bit, or at least move around in the pocket to avoid pressure... DD
Ideal situtation for Schaub would be to have Warren Moon brought in to mentor him... Schaub is one of those "he'll do" Qb's... He's not embarassingly bad... Even we he was throwing for 4000 per season the last couple years, I thought he was a middle of the pack type QB...
How many more years do we give Schaub before we give him his walking papers??... If we dont make the playoffs, should we kick him to the curb and look elsewhere?...
of course they are looking, all team are always looking...except the Colts apparently because they had nothing in the pipeline as a quality backup. They drafted a QB last year. Hasselbeck, although playing well, is not better than schaub. Plus he is a loner who isnt a long term solution. It would make zero since for them to have brought in Hasselbeck as a starter considering A) he's played poorly in recent seasons B) has not been healthy and C) is on the cusp on retirement.
You do it if you're in the "win now" mode... I agree not with Hasselbeck ... jus sayin depends on the QB...
Agree about Hasselback etc, but I think the organization needs to be looking for someone to push Schaub, or someone that might be better, that guy they drafted this year has another noodle arm..... Either way, the team is stuck with Schaub, but they have to be all healthy and running on all cylinders to basically allow him to be effective. He is too stationary, gets rattled too easily, and makes mental mistakes at the worst possible time. Some of the credit he gets for late TDs are him just tossing it up and Johnson going to make a play...... At the end of the day, losing AJ is a killer for the entire team, especially Schaub. DD
AJ is a killer but Schaub has weapons around him... Walters needs to be targeted more ..especially in single coverage... They should use Jacoby on WR screens more... should be more swing passes to Foster ... There are ways we can still be a respectable ,dangerous offense without AJ... I think Walters is a great option to go to in the red zone ...Schaub never looks his way , even without Andre there
Walter (singular, there's just one) just isn't quick enough to get consistently open. He has great hands, but he just hasn't been getting separation. I agree there should be more swing passes to Foster. I would have liked to see that on the last play.
Well, if that's the criteria then maybe we should go out and get Jamarcus Russell. I hear he has a cannon.
As soon As they give Kubiak the boot. They are tied together. Matt isn't going to stick around with a new regime...well maybe he might stick around as a mentor.
If he shows no emotion as the emotional leader for a playoff-calibur team, Imagine his mood as a mentor for a rebuilding team... No thanks
I don't think we'll see a real QB controversy until Kubiak is replaced. What I'd really like to know, though, is what AJ thinks of Matt.
Yeah when are we going to kick Schaub to the curb and get one of those readily available better QBs to come in and lead us?
Just look at the relationship Matt and David Anderson or Walter have. I think that shows you how much of a relationship Andre and him have...very little if any.
at any time silly. There are plenty of QBs out there that can and will be better. Hell, they could easily draft one and that guy could take the texans to the playoffs.
LOL, now Schaub and AJ hate each other. Based on what? Nobody knows... Is this going to be the next bbs talking point?
