Well, at least you couldn't question Carr's toughness (that's the only positive thing I'll say about that meatbag).
the fact that you can even think to reasonable compare the two is comical. While you are doing research...go ahead and look up how many times the QB put the winning points on the board to only have the defense give up the losing play. Go ahead and look up how many potentially winning drives ended up in a missed FG. etc don't pick and choose your numbers.
It is really hard to get a good QB, Schaub has some positives- accurate passer, smart and can read coverage, good decisions most of the time- weaknesses- terrible feet as far as managing the pocket and getting away from pressure, slow, holds the ball too long at times. I think he manages the game OK, is a good leader and is smart, pretty accurate passer. We can win with him, but he is not Peyton, Brady, Rodgers or Brees. It's all about winning. I felt this team would win the division barring injury, well guess what- injuries Considering the weakness of the division alot of the remainder of the season will ride on Schaub, getting Andre Johnson back and the health of Arian Foster. I think the defense will survive Mario's loss, but it is still a work in progress and neither Allen nor Jackson are worth a flip in coverage on the corner. I think 10-6 guarantees the division. Schaub still isn't our biggest weakness, we don't have a receiver worth a flip behind Andre Johnson and we need another CB. I think Schaub is very limited in the red zone simply because he has zero mobility and you only have one receiver who is money and he's hurt. I still think this team wins the division, in spite of Kubiak who still has not convinced me his game day adjustments are worth a flip.
I'm not worried about Schaub at all. People focus on the QB too much. Jacoby was an idiot on that last play. Plain and simple. And I own his jersey. I'm more worried about the defense with Mario out and getting Andre back healthy.
Can someone define ACCURATE Cause I cannot say I see ALOT of balls where guys catch the ball in stide . . For the life of me . . I dunno why with the ball on the 5 there was not three possible plays 1. Quick Slant 2. Fade to the corner 3. quick out. I need to rewatch the last play but those should have been tried within 3 second . . then set up for the last play. Its not there. Throw the ball away . .line up again Rocket River
Contrary to popular belief , Schaub is not the smartest of QB's and having a noodle arm makes matters worse.
So, to sum up Schaub's detractors. He isn't all that smart, has no arm at all, not that accurate, no pocket presence, slow as molasses, not a winner, not clutch, etc. etc. etc. Damn, looks like if we only upgraded our QB to someone who doesn't suck in all areas, we should be a shoo in for the super bowl.
All this microanalysis of Matt Schaub is pointless. The issue is his personality. His face is aggravating. He's boring. He has no swag. He doesn't inspire anyone. He doesn't show emotion. Just like Kubiak. Just like McGrady. His supporters stick to his impersonal stats. His detractors can't give a solid reason as to why they just don't like him. I don't like him and I can't give a logical reason as to why, oh well. All I can say is that I don't like that he doesn't say anything at the line, he doesn't yell at anyone, doesn't curse, doesn't talk ****, doesn't seem to expect good things to happen him and the team, doesn't make it HIS team, etc., etc. But, being a top 10 quarterback in this league doesn't mean you're special. There are only three "special" QBs in this league, Brady, Manning, and Breese, then Rogers, then Roethlisberger and Rivers, then Vick (on peak value, not average), then a bunch of other typical QBs (where Schaub falls), and finally the potentials and flunkies. Yeah, I guess that makes him (tied for) top ten, but special? Worth holding on to until the mediocre end? I don't know, but out of the last ten years how many times has one of the top 5 listed above missed a Super Bowl? I know they've won most of them with Eli being the combo breaker and a bunch of SB losers who were truly elite thrown in there. And the quarterback gets the bulk of the blame because he is BY FAR the most important player on a football team. That's why teams fall apart when their star QB goes down, why Vegas holds off on lines if a QB might miss a game, why they make the most money, get picked #1 almost every year. Why should we blame it on a backup full-back who never plays because he blew the only play that's been called for him all season (<-, right? maybe, don't know)? So, wuteva, I can't believe I wrote this.
^ are you in the huddle jumpman? I have an inside source(NFL fx) that tells me schaub does as much yelling and even tells jokes in the huddle. What would you like him to do? to jump and dance around like he has fire ants going up his legs in the pre game warm ups, ala ray lewis? Next someone is going to post about schaub's hair or lack of hair making him unclutch. :sigh:
No, what's comical is believing a guy can get it done against good teams when he often doesn't. But I'm not picking and choosing numbers. This is the only listing that I see for game winning drives. I didn't compile this list. Sorry that you don't like it's results.
He is an above average QB that seems to be prone to making back-breaking mistakes, similar to the other QB that starts for that other Texas team.
sorry if you don't understand the art of detailed analysis and only take things at face value. Good luck with that.
You know, Schaub reminds me of a Cowboys' quarterback, but not the current one. He reminds me of the one that won three Super Bowls on an offensive with the best O-line, fullback, tight end, and second-best running back and receiver in the game, but then sucked horribly when they couldn't put all of that around him. Aikman had a little bit stronger arm, and was even more stone-footed than Schaub, but they are similar quality quarterbacks. Neither Schaub nor Aikman could make Wes Welker into a superstar. Either of them could win Super Bowls with enough offensive talent around them.
Oh, such as not being able to analyze that the majority of comebacks were against bad teams, while more often than not boneheaded errors were made against winning ones? I'm sorry you let data lie to you and make you ignore what's clearly evident to most others.
Dilfer was able to win a SB with enough talent around him. So was Big Ben when he wasn't that good. But that is an interesting comparison.
He can, but you have to admit he is hardly a top tiered QB, he is more a middle of the road one. The team around him needs to be great for him to win, whereas some QB's can make players around them better. Schaub is a nice average to better than average QB.....but hardly one that will lead a team anywhere. DD
contradiction much? you say he can win...then say he can't. Of course he isnt in the top tier (i.e. Brees, Peyton, Brady, Rivers, Rodgers). Sweet jesus. How many times does this have to be stated for it to sink in? That's not the argument and it never really has been by anyone with half a brain. He is a good NFL QB who is in the top half and more accurately a solid argument can be made for him to be top 10. For people to b**** and moan and repeatedly state the obvious flaws he has is ridiculous because to get an upgrade you will basically be getting one of the Elite QBs in the league, which isn't exactly something that grows on trees.
