How is supporting good middleclass jobs with decent benifits a problem? If there are budget shortfalls then I would look to the waste and special interest taxbreaks to shoreup the diffenence - not hardworking middleclass Americans. I would also cut certain social services that are being abused. For example my aunt is a teacher and at her school they serve breakfast and lunch year round (even during the summer) for all students reguardless of need - during the summer any and all kids who showup are allowed to eat whether they go to the school or not! She says a local daycare brings a bus of children to eat each day and then leaves. They can do nothing about it because they are not allowed to ask anyone anything about whether they should be there or not.
no i wasnt- **** them Mark Williams, chairman of the Tea Party Express, claimed that Muslims worship a "monkey-god" and are "animals of allah [sic]." Williams also posted an image of Islam's Prophet Muhammad with a Nazi swastika on top of his head. Tea party leaders refused to repudiate Williams' anti-Islam views. thats the kind of **** we are talking about, i would say that not all but a very large portion of tea partiers have racist tendencies. lets fcking be really honest here since we live in texas, i live in white suburbia and i hear it all the time from conservatives. yeah they say they just are "fiscally conservative" (w/e the F thats supposed to mean) and socially liberal or some of them are just plain conservative all around. but when you get a few drinks in them and debate race and politics, oh boy does the truth come out. i have consistently found conservatives to be" in the closet" or unconscious racists and most of my friends are conservative and i am colored. we have been friends for a long time, but ill call it how i see it they say things to me that they usually wouldnt even say to other white poeple they dont know. its a strange relationship that dates back to chid hood, its like we are cool to eachother but then you get them on BLACK PEOPLE and omg quanell X, welfare, food stamps affirmative action, immigration (job takers) and all this bs stuff with racial undertones that obviously takes a listener away from the true problems. its just how it is- conservatives tend to focus on red herring social issues- immigration, crime (see 1988 election willie horton and weekend furloughs add and its immediate effects on voters), security, abortion, death penalty, religion, stem cell research. im not saying thats all they focus or care about, they do care about bs trickle down economic ideas like giving money to the rich and taxing the little guys at higher rates, and are for small but more importantly for BIG business that has big money in DC. so do i think they are legitimate criticisms to call tea partiers racist> yeah, just as the occupying wall street has mostly a bunch of hipsters there, who probably dont know **** about politics. but the message is honest, corruption, accountability and all the other BS they listed on that elementary bucket list on there web site. but i think the hippsters are at least pointing the finger the right way, and are not affiliated with a political party (unlike the tea party who claim to be independent, but we all know at a time were almost one in the same with the birthers but realized that movement was making them look like garbage) IMO there needs to be a non aligned political movement that does not debate politics nor affiliates itself with a political party- but seeks the power of conservatives and liberals to join hands in fighting corruption in the government and seeking 3rd parties. leave the debates aside for the election, but fight the good fight and get the power back to the people. i think both sides are starting to realize that washington has grown too stagnant, too corrupt, and too much interest that is obviously not in favor of the american people.
Wow, the Boston police department went nuts on the occupy Boston protestors. Crazy. Video: http://politics.salon.com/2011/10/11/the_worst_ows_moment_so_far/singleton/
Way to concentrate on a single aspect, the absolute smallest aspect, of education spending. You do realize that the states outspend the federal government by a factor of 10, dwarfing your cherry picked graph, right? In addition, your graph is inaccurate, here is per capita federal spending per student since 1970... Note that the federal government spends less than $300 per student while the local component is nearly $2500 and the state piece of that pie is $800 or so. Note number two is that whoever you got your graph from cut it off after 2006, right before federal education spending began to drop. They cherry picked the data and you just bought it.
Who is this very liberal guy in the Whitehouse who has given virtually all the desires of the liberal groups that you speak of?
not sure if this guy is serious, but if so, further evidence this whole "protest" is orchestrated by unions, and the obama campaign. <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/iDqqObYS2kU?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
State spending on education varies and your first post is not in reference to one state. The graph I posted isn't wrong. Notice how your graph doesn't list any sources.... Mine does (National Center for Education Stats). This completely disproves your original claim of 'taking money out for decades', and claiming that the stats only go to 2006 doesn't change that fact. Why would you go out of your way to use unsourced crap as opposed to the federal government's numbers? Nope. They used the data given. As stated before, wishing and hoping the data looks different after 2006 doesn't change the fact that your claim is wrong by government measures on both accounts (testing and spending). This is even directly from your own posted website (http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/education_spending) It's saying your wrong.
i was sickened by not only the tone of many in the tea party, but the blatant hypocrisy of bush supporters and republicans railing against out of control spending and expanding government.
Your inability to look at the URL of the image <> "unsourced crap." http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/ Since you appear to be too lazy to *gasp* right click and choose Properties, here is the source. Great site, allows you to really dig into the numbers, free of the biased "analysis" present on many conservative and liberal blogs.
the site is getting it's data from somewhere I would assume. Where is the data coming from? That's what 'sourced' means. Not, who made the chart. The site disagrees with you so it's hardly relevant. It clearly states our spending on education has increased since the 80s.
The federal government shouldn't put a penny into education really, their job is to make sure this country is free and people are not taking advantage of others, protecting our rights and constitution. They fail miserably but educating us isn't their jobs, thats the states job.
Occupy WallStreet is not the same as the Tea Party. The tea party was started by ultra-conservative 501's and PAC's. Occupy Wallstreet is truly grass roots and an expression of people's anger with the hypocrisy of gov't in awarding the rich and ignoring the problems of the average joe. If hard work isn't enough to succeed in America, people should go to the streets and protest. This isn't about liberals, there are plenty of conservatives hurting too.
