Happened to me this past Sunday, as the rain soaked through my pocket and worked it's way into my phone (HTC Thunderbolt). Phone would start up but the touch screen didn't work. Tried the bag of rice trick to no avail. I bought the phone through wirefly.com (never again) and they recommended insurance from Mobile Device Protection (mdpa.com.... never again) who it turns out does not cover water damage. My options didn't look good... Verizon would sell me a certified used LG Revolution for $100 or a Samsung Charge for $150. But I have accessories investment, and heck, I like my T-Bolt. In comes Cell Phone Repair (CPR), what appears to be a franchise phone and other device and camera repair shop. For $100 they did some sort of water restoration treatment, disassembled, and removed any corrosion. A few hours later, phone is back and looks and works as good as new. Natch, the warranty is probably history but hey, I am now willing to try rooting the phone (Ice Cream Sandwich, anyone? ). My wife is now urging me to get one of those franchises... seems like a pretty interesting way to make a buck.
Greg G? A very good friend of mine works there . I know exactly what you're talking about. No ICS for you, but definitely some Gbread. http://revolutionary.io Easy as hell to root the T-bolt nowadays. I did it back when it first came out on 3-17-11 with ADB and it's nothing like it is now lol
No, this was the location in the Portofino across I45 from The Woodlands. The phone finally hot Gingerbread a few weeks ago. Minimal changes but Skype now works.
Tried the rice trick, in fact, took the phone and battery in a sealed baggy filled with rice. It works sometimes. I will keep the next few Silca packs I get since they work and are neater.
Oh cool. GB has been out unofficially for a while. That OTA has bugs I hear. Glad to hear your tbolt survived. That phone has nice development going for it.
