There were numerous stories on the fact that the players had substantial war chests built up and were in it for the long haul at all costs. This seems like they caved pretty hard, pretty quickly.
Well, if the whole BRI includes all income, the players probably won't lose too much. 57-43 was always ridiculous
under 50/50 won't there still be owners guaranteed to lose money? how many owner have to vote yay to ratify the deal?
50 is still less than 90 percent of 57. And they had record revenues. That's a huge concession to make, because it will never come back.
Not really. TV deals are only increasing. Revenue is also only increasing. And I'm pretty sure that players aren't that dumb that they would just fold
This kind of stuff just makes the players look worse and stupider in my eyes. If you really want to play, then take a 50/50 split and you’ll get to play. Stop acting like you're a prisoner in no control of the situation. If the lockout goes past today and they keep up this “LET US PLAY” victim card crap, the fans should seriously tweet them to STFU and GTFO.
LOL somebody already did to Carmelo and he responded. carmeloanthony Carmelo Anthony We know that “@takitdeep: @carmeloanthony if it wasnt for basketball and the fans all you players would be nothing in life!” carmeloanthony Carmelo Anthony Last thing. It bothers me to hear people talk about things they know nothing about!!!
I don't get what you're disappointed by? Athletes are a commodity and they should be paid like a commodity.
Did you not read my previous post? If they want to squeeze out every last dollar that they feel they're worth, then fine. But don't try and garner sympathy from your fans under the pretext that "all you want to do is play." There's a 50/50 offer on table if that's really all you want...
They are not just a normal commodity, they are a unique one, in that their skill sets are the best in the world. People won't pay to go see you and I play ball, though I am pretty damned good to be honest. DD
Negotiations are a game that have to be played. Honestly, its really hard to tell what is actually offered and what is being reported to look good to the media.
Looks like they agreed to a shorter MLE contract. daldridgetnt David Aldridge One small step up the mountain: source: sides close on mid-level exception agreement. On NBA.com: on.nba.com/r01oT7 http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/david_aldridge/10/10/encouraging-sign/index.html
People wouldn't want to see me play basketball, but they would want to see me code. I'm sure. I'm starting a business right now. I'm a special commodity.
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski The NBA is reporting on its website that it's nearing an agreement with NBPA on a new, reduced version of mid-level exception. AlexKennedyNBA Alex Kennedy I just spoke to a source close to the labor talks. "We're getting close," he said. "We're definitely making progress."
