I don't care if you are black, white, or yellow: Yao Ming, Larry Bird, or my boy Carmelo.

Rubio had some steals but is scared like hell when being open, doesn't even attempt to shoot or drive. No good passes either, he's a non-factor on offense. Footwork on D looked awful, wack German players like Hamann could pass by him without effort. Right now Rubio is only good at stealing.

This shows just how much of an extreme exaggeration there is in this forum about the level of the NBA and its players. It really shows just how much nonsense and delusion most NBA only fans tend have in their ludicrous overrating of the level of the NBA.

Deron Williams, "NBA superstar" playing with Besiktas against Dexia Mons of the Belgian League. Dexia Mons plays in the second tier European competition of Eurocup (level below Euroleague).......

Dexia could not win a single game if they played in Euroleague probably, based on the level of their roster. Max, I would say they might win 2 games in Euroleague. So keep in mind that this is against competition that is below Euroleague level.........

Here, we have the great NBA superstar "dominating Euro scrubs".......

Deron Williams' Stats: (Against competition below Euroleague level)

    33.0 Minutes Per Game

    6-28 (21.4%) Field Goal Percentage
    2-12 (16.7%) 3 Point Field Goal Percentage
    8-11 (72.7%) Free Throw Percentage

    11.0 Points Per Game
    8.0 Assists Per Game
    1.5 Rebounds Per Game

    1.5 Steals Per Game
    0.0 Blocks Per Game

    4.0 Fouls Per Game
    4.0 Turnovers Per Game

Video of Deron Williams "dominating Euro scrubs":

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_UvoxICwt8g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The video clearly proves that "any NBA superstar will automatically dominate and destroy any European team" and basically confirms the claims of NBA only fans in this forum........no, wait a second

So this is what an "NBA superstar" is? Someone that never tries and never plays hard and does not care? That is the argument for why the NBA is supposedly a billion times better than any other league?

That is the excuse for why an NBA superstar struggles against even second tier European teams?

Yep, that pretty much proves the NBA is mainly nothing but hype and marketing.

And it was 2 games, not just one. And those "meaningless games", were the two most important games of the entire season for Besiktas.

For Beiktas sure, for Deron Definitely no. He is over there for two reasons, Stay fit + Posturing for NBPA. The win/loss record for Besikitas haa absoloutely no Bearing on william's career, accolades, perception(except in particular narrow minded european fans) or future contracts and hence the quality of effort he puts in will be completely different. Sure the play is poor, but you would have to be quite foolish to assume that the NBA season Deron(which is what he's pay is based upon) is the player as offseason Deron who is effectivelly seeing this as summer cardio fitness. How you can infer that because Deron is doing poorly now, it is therefore concrete evidence of NBA superstars mediocrity in general is mindboggling.

As a type this however, i realise i am begining to travel down a well beaten tract in OHMSS Trollville, so maybe i should just summarise what ive said in terms you understand: Deron Willaims is better than every single euroleauge player ever and if you dont agree with me shut up because you know nothing about basketball.

So that's what NBA superstars are good for then? Taking money and not caring, not playing hard, and not trying? And this is the argument for why this makes the NBA "the best league in the world"?

Strange also since the argument here before this was that no matter what, under any circumstances, all NBA "superstars" would "dominate in Europe".

Suddenly, it is "well, you know, they could dominate if they actually tried, but NBA players don;t try. Everyone knows they only play for money and stats, because you know, actual winning and competition are not important in the NBA".

Kevin Seraphin has done very well in preseason in Vitoria. As well as Adam Morrison, who yesterday scored 23 in his league debut only wissing 2 shots.
Kyle Singler scored 23 in his debut against Bilbao (spanish league).
Batum scored 17 + 6 assists in his official debut in France.
Pekovic has been tremendous against KK Zagreb. Dejuan Blair has been absolute key at the qualifying for the VTB, he averaged 22-10 in his first 3 games.
Gallinari 12 points in 12 minutes, Scalabrine 16 points.
Vujacic did good at preseason for Efes Pilsen and yesterday scored 18 in his official debut.

    ...

Deron? Probably out of shape, I don't know, I still haven't seen him play here. Wait for a more extensive sample and then comeback, please.

those games are viewed as a summer league type equivalent. Something to do while the season isnt going on. Willliams needs to play something so he doesnt get fluffy when the nba starts again.

I like how this thread has two completely opposite accounts of play in the European leagues, juxtaposed right up against each other, almost at times interweaved together without either side making notice of the other (out of courtesy?). Because it just gives us a chance to choose which account we think is more correct. Both sides have statistics, but that just shows you how useful statistics are.

If you were to tell me, however, that one side's primary purpose--among other trolling purposes--is to denigrate the image of the NBA in comparison to other basketball leagues, and compare that to a somewhat more impartial poster, one who may have a bias for Rockets players on account of his fandom but also shows performance data of players not on the Rockets or affiliated with us to prove points that may or may not be perceived well by the Rockets fanbase; then after all that, I would probably be more inclined to side with the non-troll poster.

Not that they were having a debate about anything, just kind of walking side-by-side on the train station quay shouting out completely contradictory things, to no one in particular.

Haha. You catch on quickly... :)

Haha.. This struck me a really funny, for some reason. Maybe it's because it's late.

    On another note:

It is kind of depressing how bad Rubio looks after all of the hype that's been made of him. He certainly doesn't look like someone who should be able to dictate terms to an NBA franchise front office; even a terrible one.

Vujacic is playing only preseason games. Morrison does not even play in Euroleague, not even in Eurocup, not even in the qualifying for it. Anchel was trolling you and you fell for it.
