Schaub probably couldn't have run it in but the throw away was out the window because the coaches called a very slow developing play; so instead of showing any amount of fortitude our QB flipped it to the defense. I would have been much more pleased if Schaub had shown his sack wasn't filled with marshmallows and tried to lower his shoulder but the guy is a pussycat on the football field. Not a single drop of toughness in his body
Bingo. I keep going back to this play. TD and we have that much more time to get the ball back and get into FG position for a game winner by Rackers. Schaub failed on the last play, but it shouldn't have come down to that. That drop is the difference between Matt being a hero (Game tying TD drive; game winning FG drive) and Matt being a goat (game ending INT at the goal line).
I completely disagree. Maybe I'm not on the Texans board enough but I feel most on here would be able to live with Schaub at least attempting to run it in and failing than looking to run, stepping back and throwing that INT to end the game. I think the vitriol going Schaubs way would have been SIGNIFICANTLY less. Maybe I'm naive about the folks on here, I dunno.
The Oilers made the playoffs. In their first 3 seasons, the Oilers won two AFL titles and lost in the championship of the 3rd season.
The Texans led in almost every statistical category, they had double the first downs, double the total yardage, etc., etc. Poor coaching decisions are lurking in the shadows.
This is gonna be one long ass week. Gonna be hard listening to sports radio this week, maybe gonna take a week off from listening to all things sports till the Ravens game.
Any Schaub play would be criticized. If it was a running play, the blame would be more on Kubiak. I agree with DM that this is an unexcusable loss. This was a game to prove the Texans can overcome adversity, and once again they blew it.
This game and the feeling I have after is so symbolic of this franchise. From the beginning, ever since 19-10...I have always had higher expectations and have always gotten my teeth knocked in. I was thinking...we can actually be 4-1......4-1 like teams like the Patriots....top brass teams.......and instead...disappointed and in the middle of the pack no better than the damn 3-2 Bengals. After next week, they will be .500 at 3-3.......typical .500..... So disappointing on so many levels.....when will I lean to stop believing things can be different year in and year out? I guess I'm just a fool.....like most Texan fans.......
For the money we paid Jacoby, would we have found a better #2? Who was out there? Would you rather the team put more money into finding a complementary receiver to AJ or to fix the secondary? Besides that, there were plenty of chances today, despite Andre being out. The lack of a #2 receiver wasn't the reason we lost.
I like how we're writing the team off for next week already. Just like we expected a win this week based on the Steelers victory. The Raiders are not a bad team, and this was certainly no gimme. If this defense can stop the run and get to Flacco, which they did today against McFadden and Campbell, and the offense doesn't look completely inept, then they can win.
