thank you. can we all agree on this? this thread has gotten bogged down in the semantics of what being clutch means - but the bottom line is that schaub is easily a top 10 qb. fair enough if you don't trust him in the clutch - by whatever definition it is that you're using, it's clearly going to take a lot from schaub to earn that trust. although, going by icehouse's definition of clutch, i'm not sure who qualifies as clutch in his book. is it just tom brady? because if so, this basically boils down to us griping that schaub isn't as awesome as tom brady. in which case we all agree on that too, but i'd rather spend my time first focusing on improving the areas of the team that are still below average than wishing we could assemble a dream team.
My definition is quite simple. With the game on the line and player X has the ball, are you thinking "we got this, he is about to make a play" or are you thinking "I hope this dude doesn't make a mistake" or are you saying "I know this dude is about to choke". If we are being honest I don't think the 1st option is what's in our heads when it comes to Matt. That doesn't mean he is a garbage QB or doesn't help us win. By the way, I think at least half of us would put Manning in the last group based on the threads bout him and he is clearly an elite QB. I still don't trust him in a big game and am not suprised when he makes a bonehead mistake. Go look at the SB thread against NO....no one was shocked he threw that pick 6. It was more of "there goes the Manning I know".
Schaub I don't blame Schaub as much as the line. Imagine getting sacked nearly every play. You'd be scared and paranoid too.
I apologize for spelling his last name wrong. Although he deserves it. I was wondering why I couldn't tag him on my facebook status. Oh well.
He sucked today but wasn't alone...best O-Line in the game got smoked that second half. That said, lots of bad decisions and bad bad QB play.
Every team is going to play us this way. Stack the run and make Matt Schaub and Jacoby Jones beat you.
we're all a bunch of ****ing morons for continuing to support the absolute jokes that comprise the houston professional sports contingency.
