Bingo... The PER is damn close, and the defense and intangibles are lightyears apart. Thanks for proving my point...
It depends on what you want from your point guard. It sounds like you want a role player which is fine if your team already has #1 and #2 offensive options like the Mavs do with Dirk and Terry (and a #3 with Butler). But if I don't have that luxury, then I want a pg that can create shots for himself and others.
The point was that you're making excuses for Martin's low FG% but you're ignoring any mitigating circumstances on Lowry's behalf.
I definitely don't want a SG impostor that has no leadership abilities, no tempo control and no defense. I want an extension of the coach on the floor... Jason Kidd/Chauncey Billups/Andre Miller eat Stephen Curry alive in the Point Guard department, imo.
It's kinda hard to gauge if Curry has "tempo control" with the GS system. With that said, leadership develops over the years, and to a degree, so does defense, and point guard control. I bet you within two or three seasons, Curry becomes a better point guard than prime Miller, on par to being better than prime Billups, and if he develops rapidly, more efficient than prime Kidd, who always had a fugly shot holding him back.
